well we all know that isn't correct now. I signed a one-year lease for apartments and now I have to leave the country with 6 months left on my lease. What's horrible is I sold all my belongings back in the United States to move here. And now after 6 months I have to move back. Car and everything.
I would be very careful with paying everything up front. I signed up with Duke University which is a great school but I failed my ministry of education test after three courses. I was taking off the Ed visa and had to go with the covid-19 extension which was a one-time thing for me. I now have to leave the country after March 24th and Duke University will not reimburse me for the classes I cannot take in person.
If I had to do it all over again I would just sign up for individual classes and just keep extending my Ed Visa as is needed.
I was not told by thai immigration that I can no longer get an extension under covid-19. The school I went to told me that the extension on February 24th was the last one the country was granting.
I came here in August on a tourist visa. After several weeks I signed up for a language school to get my 1-year education Visa. After 5 months I failed the ministry of education test at the school so I was told that I would have to get off the Ed Visa and convert to the covid-19 extension. This happened last month and from what I understand that was the last extension that would be granted for anyone under the covid rules. So now I have until March 24th to figure out what I'm going to do next.
My intention was to always come here on an education Visa but at that time you had to do it in person so I could not do it ahead of time and I had to come in under the tourist one
I was not familiar with the term test and go. I just assumed that it was another way of phrasing quarantine.
I have also been given conflicting answers. Such as I have to fly back to the United States or Thailand won't let me back in. Another one was if I do leave Thailand even for a day I would have to do a mandatory quarantine of 10 to 14 days.
