How can I exchange a large jar of Thai coins for cash before moving back to the US?

This is and everything else question. I move back to United States next week and I have this whole jar full of coins that I've been piling on to for the past year. How can I turn this in for cash? Do I just take a whole jar to the bank or is there a coin counting machine I could put this in?

Edit: so people can stop with the giving it away to charity post. My mom has terminal brain cancer and I'm going back to the states to help take care of her because she only has about 3 months left to live. I won't be working and will be around to help out with her hospice care.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses how a person can exchange a large amount of coins accumulated over time in Thailand for cash before relocating back to the US. They seek advice on whether to take the coins to a bank or if there are coin counting machines available, sharing that they are going home to care for a terminally ill parent and need the funds for living expenses. Various commenters suggest options including using banks, 7-11 stores, and supermarkets where the coins can be exchanged or spent directly, as well as express some opinions on charitable giving.

I used to give my coins to the lady at the local fruit stand, she would count it and exchange it for me. She stopped doing that for me because it was a pain-in-the-ass.

Also, I have taken it to 711's given it to them come back after a couple of days, they count it, and give me the cash. Maybe they're not given me an honest deal, maybe they're skimming a little off the top. But I like to think its fair. Now I my wife just spends it.

You could just take the teners and spend them and give the rest to charity.

5c count one like of 20. = 100. Name many more of same height. No need count

1b count 100. Weight on kitchen scale, bag up the rest in 100 add few extra in each.

Machines in USA risky take 7% is extract danger in Thailand. So maybe easier to separate yourself.
