Hello, I was just approved for my 90 day Non O visa. Once I get back to Thailand, what are the steps to transition to the Retirement 1 year? I don’t have 800k in the bank but my monthly income is well over the 65k requirement. Just need the steps?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To transition from a 90-day Non-O visa to a 1-year Retirement visa in Thailand, you generally need to demonstrate financial stability. The standard requirement is to show 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account that must be in place for 2 months prior to applying for your extension. If you don't meet this requirement, some options exist, such as obtaining an income certificate from your embassy; however, not all embassies offer this service. Alternatively, you could use a visa agent who may assist with the financial requirement, though this might incur additional costs. It's critical to gather the necessary paperwork and possibly consult with visa agencies for tailored advice based on your specific situation.

John Marsala thats great...im not sure which country u are from but please do check with your embassy in thailand do they issue affidavit of your pension/income...if YES and thats great after u arrived in thailand get yourself a thai sim card under your name ....6mth/1yr lease and open a thai bank account (suggest kasikorn/SCB) can skip the residency cert( depends on branch) visit your embassy and get affidavit of income/pension ....when u have left less den 30days of your nonO visit the immigration to do your 1yr extension.......if your embassy does not provide the affidavit im sorry to say the only way for your 1st extension is the 800k method and it have to be seasoned for 2mths before u can apply for extension and lastly theres another option (avoid if possible) get a agent to put that 800k for your acct (might cost more) and assist your extension....hope this helps

Unless your embassy in bangkok issues an income certificate, which many now do not, you need a minimum of 800k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months to get the 12 months extension of stay based on retirement. If you don't have that your only option is to use an agent to provide it.

I just went to apply for my first 12 month extension on Thurs. I deposited the 800,000 as soon as I arrived in December to make sure it had time to season in the account. I had no problems at the bank or immigration.

I applied for an OA in New York City Consulate and they accepted income as proof to issue the visa. You just need health insurance (AXA have a super cheap policy).

Iain Clark Yes for the visa but not for the 1 year extension. One year extensions from the Immigration Department use different financial requirements.

Also the OA and O visa are different visas.

You need 800k I’m afraid for the 1st years extension.

You have 30 days to put that in place to allow it to season for the required 60 days.

You can’t use 65k until your 2nd year extension.

CoolBunny_7244 True, although all the literature says otherwise, can’t quantify the first time with income, must be the 800k deposit.
