This means you need to come back to the very same office on that exact day on which they will then stamp the remaining 45 days of the extension into your passport. Don't worry, they do this for everybody. As to why? No clue. What at senseless, annoying exercise for all parties involved.

True. It is awfully full at immigration the past weeks. Annoying. Disgusting and not healthy. But that is not due to COVID extensions, but to due to utter inefficiency and stupidity of the system. Why make peope come in so often? Why make them come in in person at all? Why make them come in even twice (one time for "under consideration" stamp, and then once more for the final stamp)? The whole Thai immigration is rotten! Non of that would be needed anyways, if there were long term visa options for people younger than 50, by the same scheme people over 50 can stay in this country.

Unlikely. They would ask you to do the regular 30 day extension, first.

Don-Laura Traub No! TR -> ED should not come with such a ridiculous premium. Just ask them for all necessary supporting documents and then do it yourself at immigration @ 1,900 baht. Different story of you try to do e.g. Non-B to ED, which is not legally possible - that would cost extra, for sure.

And it is ridiculously expensive. Make sure they don’t rob you. For a normal conversion of visa (e.g from TR Tourist to ED in country) the official fee is 1,900 baht. The number you are quoting should only apply if you are trying to do a conversion that usually cannot be done. Brown envelope money then. Would never do it / support this.

Nothing heard yet. Hoping for news until Monday at the latest. But not a certainty. They did however extend the Emergency Decree until the end of March today. That is not directly related, but shows that nothing of substance has changed enough yet and menas it is quite likely COVID extensions will be extended once again.

Highly annoying, yes I know. But applied like this in many Immigration Offices, unfortunately. The FIRST covid extension starts the day you apply for it. Subsequent ones would then however be accumulated / added to the end date of the former one. That "under consideration" practice is the worst, as it makes one so inflexible to travel on. Nothing you can do about it. But you do have plenty time left, so you could shop around for more favorable Immigration Offices that at least not do that "under consideration" crap. One question: You did say your "visa ends". As in you are on your original entry stamp and did not have one regular extension, yet? Most Immigration Offices will then first force you to get a 30 day regular extension (at the same price of 1,900 baht), before taking you application for a COVID extension. That is the 3rd annoying thing.

Yes. If there is enough time left on your permitted stay. Weeks.

It may work if you cancel your nonB and then immediately go on a covid extension - from which you could then change to education visa.
