TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the potential extension of the Covid Visa application deadline, which is currently set to expire on January 25th, as they need to stay in Thailand until April 5th. Community comments suggest there might be possibilities for extensions, though no official announcements have been made yet. Some users recommend applying for an extension on the last possible date or exploring the option of obtaining a proper visa instead of relying on continuous extensions.

They have been giving extension beyond 25 for some time

Dave Swallow. Yes, the 25th is the last date to apply for 60-day extensions. Naturally the extension goes beyond this date

Apply for extension on 24 or 25th Jan, some people reported doing so 5 weeks before expiry date of their stamp. At least you can try

Can I come on a tourist visa and get the covid extension?
Terary **********
I guess we'll find out

@Terary *********
Unlikely. They would ask you to do the regular 30 day extension, first.

@Terary *********
yes you can

At this stage, there has been no official statement extending it past January 25th, but keep a eye on the news they usually wait until the last day or so. Good luck

I think for this year they will renew covid visa
Bobby ********
Have you considered getting a PROPER visa instead of this continuous farting around with these concession extensions?

@Bobby *******
Cost is one consideration. Covid visas are relatively cheap in comparison. Flexibility is another, 6 Covid extensions in a year is a lot more flexible than a yearlong visa.
Jessica ******
@Bruno *******
exactly! People forget that not every foreigner is rich or comes from old money.
Bobby ********
Bruno Araujo. The covid extensions cost 1900 baht every two months, requiring in most cases two visits to immigration. Total cost is

baht for a year. I just extended my non-O for twelve months. One visit to immigration cost 1900 Baht for one year. I can't figure out how you see the covid extension as being more flexible and cheaper! 🀣🀣🀣

@Bobby *******
Bro you DO realize that not everyone is over 50 years old right? You also DO realize that shipping 65,000THB per month is horrible money management as well right?
Bobby ********
Bruno Araujo. I need 45-50k per month to live here. You think tying up 800k for the rest of your life is better money management? Wow there's some losers in this group. Little wonder you've levitated to Thailand. The land of the Cheap Charlie!

@Bobby *******
, exactly. And what is the point to extending it, if they want continue to stay in thailand? Even a multi reantry visa , costs only 580 baht per year
Dave *********
@Bobby *******
because you have to deposit 800,000 baht in a bank account...hardly a flexible option is it
Bobby ********
Dave William. Wrong. You can ship in 65k baht a month. Yours to spend as soon as it hits the deck..I'd say that's VERY flexible!

Subasinghe Gayu. I just get perplexed with people hanging out month after month for these covid extensions, when there's other solutions. Have you even considered looking at alternatives?

@Bobby *******
I have no other option , only covid nd I need to stay till April 10th to return . If covid doesnt extend I will have to return back to my country before April . Thats what so worried and looking for options to stay till April 😒😒😒😒
Bobby ********
Subasinghe Gayu. ED visa?

@Bobby *******
I dont wanna go with ED visa

From the number of people being required to show paid for airfares out of Thailand before they get this extension kinda makes me think there will be no more covid extensions.
Mark ********
@Kool ******
there is zero correlation. By your logic then anyone going to MMT who don't require any proof of ticket out will be given a further extension. Maybe it's just a secret known to the agents in other places. Lol
Kool *******
@Mark *******
English is not your first language is it? You make no sense. What I said is some people are being required to show proof of a paid for airline ticket before being allowed another covid extension, not everyone. There are no refusals by countries to allow flights in, so unable to fly because of covid is no longer true. I do not see it being extended. We will see next week.
Dave *********
@Kool ******
No flight out required at hua Hin, koh Samui or Phuket..major tourist destinations. In fact my latest extension at hua hin was far easier and quicker than the previous extension 4 months earlier
Mark ********
@Kool ******
your logic that SOME immigration offices require it (but not others)is silly. Sorry if following logic is difficult.

@Kool ******
good stop the queues immigration jontien

Nothing heard yet. Hoping for news until Monday at the latest. But not a certainty. They did however extend the Emergency Decree until the end of March today. That is not directly related, but shows that nothing of substance has changed enough yet and menas it is quite likely COVID extensions will be extended once again.

I agree as it’s also beneficial for the economy.
