I'm planning on flying bkk to London Heathrow. Unvaccinated. With Thai Airways. I can't figure out if I need a test before I fly. Anyone know? And no stupid "look at the website " "just have the vaccine" "look into your crystal ball" comments please 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
Unvaccinated travelers flying from Bangkok to London with Thai Airways are required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 to 72 hours before departure. This is in line with UK government guidelines which mandate pre-departure testing for unvaccinated individuals. Additionally, there may be testing requirements upon arrival in the UK, including a PCR test on or after day 2 of arrival and self-isolation measures.

Pretty sure you need a PCR test if you are not vaccinated 48 ou 72 hours before. It has been the common rule since the beginning of COVID for travelers who fly.

To depart from Thailand, Singapore Airlines check-in required proof of Negative PCR Test, taken with the past 48 hours, for everyone in order to receive your Boarding Pass.

Reckon all airlines, including Thai Airways, require proof of a recent Negative PCR Test at check-in at Suvarnabhumi Airport, or you won't be allowed to proceed through the process ... Once checked-in with my Boarding Pass, Thai Immigration never asked to see my negative PCR Test, nor did Singapore Airlines during transit in Singapore ...

It's a shame all airlines can't adopt a "Global Vaccine" Passport scheme and not require a recent PCR Test (Negative, No COVID Detected) document

Get vaccinated.

Mind your own business. You have no right to tell anyone what medical choices they should take. Did you miss the fact that the virus has mutated into a common cold? Why on earth would anyone need to get vaccinated against that? They should remove all restrictions.

first off get a medical degree. Your suggestion that the latest Covid mutation is the common cold is beyond laughable and a dangerous suggestion.

However.... It is my right to say what I wish to. It is simply my opinion. If one doesn't want to get vaccinated... then don't and remain part of the problem. Oh and go to a Covid ICU ward and spend some time seeing those with the "common cold"!

Again i can say and tell anyone i wish.... to get medical treatment... vaccinated... or anything else. It is a desire to actually help... to share my opinion and advise. If they don't take it... well it's their life. At least I tried and will still be there for them.

Oh and one more thing.... don't wear that seatbelt in the car or plane. Don't do anything that could protect your life and those around you. Be free to be a burden and patient.

Personally... hope you remain safe and well.

As for the restrictions here... there you have my vote. However are the risks really warranted? Financially yes. That is the question that this government cannot get a grip on...Sandbox vs Test and Go just for starters.

Now... have a drink or a good night sleep or both. Oh and get vaccinated so you can protect the rest of us as well as the one that you love. That is just common sense.

If you do not qualify as fully vaccinated, you’ll need to provide a negative COVID-19 test before you travel to the UK.

From uk gov page for Jan: Unvaccinated passengers must continue to take a pre-departure test, PCR test on or before day 2 and on or after day 8 and self-isolate for 10 days. ‘Test to release’ remains an option for unvaccinated people to shorten their self-isolation period.

- Hi ya - im still struggling! All I’m getting from Emirates site is this…

I'm sure someone who's recently done a flight back may know if airline transit in Dubai requires a test. Looks like UK is changing its rules again in Feb for vaccinated passengers.

@Lynnette ******
- hi ya - we are in Phuket, fully vaccinated, thai pass test & go)- but travel back via Dubai (3hr stopover) to UK - cannot find definitive answer!!???

@Tony **********
think someone has info on the dubai transit. But UK entry for vaccinated people there's no predeparture test required. Only a day 2 prebooked private lateral flow. But some airlines have own rules which makes it complicated.

thanks. I can't work out if the pre-departure test has to be a rt-pcr. The gov websites lists a few different tests. Im sure it's all done to keep people confused 😕

@Paul ******
pre departure test is ATK not PCR for U.K.. From Feb 1st, no test necessary. I’m not 100% sure what Thai airways requirements are… It’s not always just about your destination country, you also need to investigate your airlines rules, which by the sound of it, you gather. Message Thai airways on Fb and put the question to them.

ooh. Dont know. I had one done in uk for flight to usa. It said pcr when I booked and results said it had been a rt-pcr.

Sorry. Mixed up the direction you want to go in my previous response. No clue about going back from Thailand.

I don’t think the UK requires it. So why would Thai airways ?
Lynnette *******
@Ashley *******
on uk gov page it said have to do pcr tests prior to departure from Thailand and prebook others in uk and confirm these on his passenger locator form. And quarantine too. But it's always best to watch for gov updates!

Lynnette Munoz think it’s changing from February 1. All those tests are being scraped all of it

the post is about the rules for travel, not if the virus that's making people sick, or killing people, is somehow imaginary. 🙄

Not sure why Yuri Savchenko finds this hilarious.
