I am still in Saigon but will enter at the BKK airport on Monday. I am thinking I will just have them stamp the new passport because I don't want to confuse things and also show the old passport .... passport has my METV and my Thai extension pages. I'm not sure what the correct procedure is.
I did in Feb. 2019 travel as a transfer through the BKK airport on the way to the US from Vietnam and had to get back quickly for a heart operation so just showed and Bkk stamped the new passport at that time.
okay got it thanks again. So it sounds like the answer is yes I can travel ... I purchase a single re- entry stamp at BKK before I leave and because my 30-day extension goes until August 9, I can exit and just we enter on that 30 day extension without a problem before July 31st.
I tried to send an image of my 30-day extension... But it looks like it says extension of stay permitted up to 8 August 2018... Signed immigration officer date 26th June 2018
you have clarified everything and thanks but the only thing I'm not sure about I realized this morning is... Am I prevented from traveling out of the country from now until July 31st when I receive my 90 day non o Visa at Bkk C-wat C-1...I would like to fly to Manila in the next week or two but I'm not sure if I show up at Bkk airport and try to buy a single or multi reentry permit whether they will give me the permit and where they will put it since I don't yet have the 90-day stamp in my passport.
I've seen the topic come up a few times regarding Banks used to meet the 800k baht requirement for the non O Visa over 50 one-year extension. I am not sure I gleaned a clear answer.
I will be getting my first one-year extension around the beginning of September. I am getting almost zero interest at my Bangkok Bank savings account. Has anyone found other accounts in Bangkok with an interest rate above 1% that will be accepted by Bangkok immigration.
I thought I heard mixed comments that some immigration staff in Thailand do not accept the higher interest fixed accounts and some do. Has anyone in Bangkok found a bank account with a decent interest rate that is a sure thing with Bangkok immigration?
Based on your comment then it looks like the 90-days end about Oct 11, so it looks like I can hit up the bank for the letter and shoot up to Cwat Bangkok immigration on August 30th or 31st. Thanks for the input... Now I can put some dates on my calendar and plan any travel around that ( which reminds me I am might as well spend some more money for a multi-entry permit on July 31st).
Looking ahead to the extension, if I remember reading right, the 90 Visa and stamp will start a new clock on July 31st. Only until 45 days before that 90-day clock expires, am I able to go into immigration to apply for the one-year extension based on being over 50. So on around September 15th.
By then my 800 k B deposit will have seasoned 75 days. Do I have it right that at the extension around September 15th at immigration I will just have to bring my Visa and my bank book showing at least 60 days seasoning of the required amount. In other words, can anyone confirm that I do not have to go to Bangkok Bank all over again to get the guaranteed letter and the proof of foreign currency transfer.
