Do I need to show proof of 800,000 THB in my bank account every year for my Non-Immigrant Type O visa extension in Thailand?

ORIGINAL POSTER
In Thailand on non-imm. type O. Had one-year extension in August good until 2 August 2023.

On my 1st extension in August 2021, a paper was inserted in my passport that told me to come visit IO again in 3 months to ensure I still had 800000 in my bank account.

On this 2nd extension there seems to be no such paper.

Can I skip the check for 800k in bank IO visit this time or do we need to do that every year?

Maybe its IO office policy specific. Thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is seeking clarification on whether they are required to show proof of having 800,000 THB in their bank account annually when renewing their Non-Immigrant Type O visa in Thailand, especially since no paper was provided this time as it was during their first extension. Comments from the community suggest that the requirement may vary by immigration office, with some individuals reporting that they have successfully skipped the requirement after their initial checks.

There's a whole thread about this on Asean Now where people who get their extensions IN Pattaya using the Jomtien office got that paper and NEVER went back for the 90 day show the bank book balance check in AND nothing happened to them at all. They were able to get their yearly extensions just fine the following year ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Most likely you're using the Jomtien Pattaya Thai Immigration office.

They are known to require the proof of 800,000 Thai baht in your Thai Bank account 3 months after you get the one year extension of stay as retired.

Suggest you call or ask them...

Or ask retiree's in the Pattaya area.
