TM30 question. Searched but it wasn't clear.

I recently moved to Bangkok (condo owner did a Bangkok TM30 online).

Last weekend

did a quick trip to Pattaya. Marriott probably did a Pattaya TM30.

Is the TM30 currently required if you take a weekend trip within Thailand (and return to same Bangkok condo)?

Pattaya Jomtien IO no longer require TM30s for short trips inside Thailand. I am hoping the same policy is now in place in Bangkok.

Doing one year (non-imm. O) extension at CW Bangkok next week.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for filing a TM30 when returning from short trips within Thailand varies by location and circumstances. Some offices, like Pattaya's, no longer require it for domestic trips. However, experiences differ among expats, with some updating their TM30 regardless of travel, while others have not encountered issues after domestic trips. Bangkok's regulations may change, so it's advised to confirm with local immigration.

A few years ago Chaengwattana immigration in BKK didn't ask for an updated TM30 when coming back from a domestic trip. But,rules changes. 😎

I been living in samui, chiang mai, khon kaen and mae phim Rayong for the last 11 years and probably have 300 hotelnights during this time.

I done my tm30 once in each place where I stay one time. Maybe I been lucky.🤔

Well, you didn't mention moving permanently in your comment.

Why would you submit a TM30 while travelling? That's not how it works if you're staying in Thailand long term.

that's what I say I been living here now for 11 years and I've done my tm 30 when I move permanent never when I'm out travelling and staying in hotels for a week or two.

It’s completely different depending on the office you use. In Phuket as an example you need to have a recent filing if you’ve entered the country, stayed in a hotel recently or even a night in a hospital. Other offices don’t seem to have the same restrictions and although a recent stay somewhere may have “overwritten” your main residence on their system they have a history online so can verify your main address.

I have taken many short trips around Thailand over the last few years and never had an issue regarding TM.30 when doing 90 days or the extension. (BKK)

That being said though, as with everything in Thailand, your mileage may vary

How would they even know that you traveled anywhere?

@Thaimer *****
Because the hotel would file a new TM30 which cancels the previous one

Probally an overkill but when ever i travel and return to my condo i update my TM30, takes a few minutes of my time

@Wayne ********
It's not a problem, but an update of an already existing address when coming back from a domestic trip is still just a waste of time.

@Max ************
do you bother to follow sect 37 of the immigration act ? Or you ignore that law when you do domestic travel ?
Wayne *********
@Max ************
is anyone asking you to do it ? Nope so get of your horse

@Wayne ********
You update the TM30 when you must do it. Period.

@Max ************
not your problem or time if I do it. Period

I update when I move around my choice. Period

@Wayne ********
Why update the TM30 if you don't need to? Just a waste of time.

@Max ************
I don't stress about a few minutes in my life. I have plenty of relaxing time. Some people are unorganised so I guess a few minutes is important to them.

not everyone can do it easily, especially if they are non- owners

@Glenn ****
simply ask landlord to do again if worried about needing it.
