I entered thailand by air over the last year with my non immigration one year extension and one year multi re-entry permit.

I forgot to get a new permit and the old re-entry permit expired (and so the extension is no longer valid).

When i fly into DMK this weekend do i need to explain this to the IO ?.... or do i just hand them the US passport and enter on a 30-day exempt basis ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is asking whether they need to explain their expired re-entry permit to the immigration officer when entering Thailand, given they are planning to use a 30-day visa exempt entry. Responses indicate that without a valid visa, the individual can enter on a 30-day visa exempt basis and likely will not need to provide an explanation.

Either BUY a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate before you come here or stamp in on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

30 days visa exempt arrival.

If you don't have a valid visa, then you will enter on a 30 day visa exempt. I doubt they would want an explanation
