I live in Koh Samui. My old passport has my non b visa in but doesn’t have space for a re-entry stamp.

My new passport is ready to be collected in Bangkok and then I want to fly home to Europe.

- Can I get a re-entry permit into my new passport at BKK on my way out and travel with two passports (visa in old passport and reentry in new passport)?

- Or can I go to an immigration in Bangkok and transfer the visa to my new passport, or do I need to return to koh samui for this?

I’d like to avoid having to travel back to Koh Samui to sort this out.

Sharing a personal experience. Questions and thoughts welcome. Extending a 90 Day Non-O Visa for one year at Bangkok Immigration Division 1 on 27 January. This is directed at anyone doing this for the first time ever or someone seeking a refresher. It’ll be long and not very informative for the experienced. Please keep it in mind.

Getting there: I’m located near the Sukhumvit Road BTS aka the Green Line. Left residence at 10:35. Arrived @ Mo Chit Station 50 minutes later cost 62 baht. Taxi arrived at BKK Imm Div 1 main entrance 11:45. 105 baht on the meter. Paid 120.

Initial Entry: Show passport; guard scans it. Pass through security with bag going through detection machine. Straight to information desk to pick up forms for the extension. Proceded directly to queue area. Received queue ticket section L1 at ~11:55. 28 people ahead in the queue.

Bangkok Bank Information: Walked straight down to bank. 11 people ahead of me in the queue. Filled out TM7 & associated forms in the bank. Queue moved slowly. Had copies made in the meantime. Took 55 minutes for me to make it to a bank employee. I had 800,000 baht letter made and also ordered a six month printout of my account activity, each cost 100 baht. (As a test I ordered a one year activity letter (200 baht) which you cannot get same day. It arrives by email one day later. Estimated earliest arrival time by bank employee was 2:00 pm. Arrived 1:20 pm.) Walked out of the bank at ~1:05 pm.

Back to copy area to make duplicates of the banking information just in case. Always have extra copies made.

Arrived area L1 at ~1:10 pm.

Documents I brought with my to the L1 Area to be processed. 1) 12 month lease signed by me & owner with owner Thai ID attached. Each page initialed/signed by me and owner; witness page also signed by real estate pro. 2) TM30 online version completed by real estate pro. 3) Passport main page, most recent stamp page & Non-O Page. 4) Bank Letter 800K. 5) 6 month activity report from bank. 6) Same day update: bank account activity. 7) Passport Photo.

Area L1 wait: Line moved quickly. Called to Immigration Officer desk at ~2:25 pm. & presented docs. Approval process was pleasant and quick. Signed a few docs again in front of the IO, drew a map of the area in which my building is located & paid fee. IO applied stamps and stapled slip informing me of date to do first 90 day report which must be done in person. I briefly surrendered passport and bank book for supervisor final approval. IO officer says everything OK; please wait outside. It’s now 2:40 pm.

~2:50 pm: Intern/Trainee: “Mr. Michael” She has passport and bank book and bill in hand. One year retirement visa stamp in passport. I’m good in the Kingdom for 1 year. I walk out the door at 3:00 pm.

Getting home: This is for the 30 day extension group at Laksi. Lak Si IT Square is 3 km from Imm Div 1. Aircon Taxi cost usually 70 baht. The Dark Red train line run by State Railway of Thailand is adjacent the Mall. Laksi to Bang Sue main railway station is 20 baht. MRT Blue Line from Bang Sue to Sukhumvit (connect to Asok BTS) is 37 baht. Your cost from there will vary. It’s a bit of a roundabout way to travel (takes about 40 min to reach the BTS) but you can chow down or shop at Laksi & Asok. The MRT and BTS are separate companies so each have a different rider smart card.

General Thoughts:

*Train transport was free due to the Lunar New Year celebration gift from the companies to the public. I believe the real bonus was so many people were celebrating the new year fewer people were seeking immigration services. If you eliminate the lunch hour (12:00-13:00) I was in and out in less than two hours. I consider that a quick processing time.

*You can get an 800K bank letter ahead of time and update your bank book using automated machines in the government complex. My time in the bank was much longer than I anticipated.

*The one year account activity letter from cannot happen same day. One year renewals: keep this in mind!

*The copy shop in the complex I use knows what stamps you are required for the each visa that I’ve needed.

*Making an appointment is great. Allow a little extra time so you are ready with all your paperwork. If you aren’t fully prepared you have to get a new queue ticket.

*Thank you if you made this far and are still awake. I’ll reply to questions if anyone has them.

Anyone else had trouble obtaining a letter of residence (residence certificate) at Bangkok immigration recently? -

I took all the requested documents to apply for a letter of residence. The officer took a long time looking over all the documents and noticed there was a single character typo on the rental agreement address. Informed me to amend and re-sign the rental contract with the landlord (fair enough). Then asked me to pay 400 baht (the official website says ‘no fees’ so I was confused but agreed).

After the amended rental agreement was completed and a new TM.30 submitted online by the landlord they are now asking me for more documents -

◦ House registration

◦ Owner Passport page

◦ Condo title deed (front and back)

◦ The owner signs and certifies that all pages are copies of the correctness.

Is this all normal just for a letter of residence? Or did the rules change very recently? It took me weeks just to get the TM30 from the landlord so feel like I got no chance getting all that from them 🥹.

The landlord is a foreigner (condo) if that makes a difference?

Hello,

Apologies if this has been asked before I have used the search but cannot find anything.

For the 90 day reporting in Bangkok, can I print the passport pages and DTV at or near the immigration office? I don’t have access to a printer,

Thanks,🙏

hi : )

I wanted to do my 30-day visa extension in Nonthaburi because the immigration office in Bangkok was too crowded.

However, in Nonthaburi they require a TM.30 form.

Is it possible to have an address in Bangkok but apply for the visa extension in Nonthaburi?

In Bangkok, they never asked for a TM.30.

Just did my first 90 day report in Bangkok and wanted to share in case it helps anyone, since there were some confusing parts I wish I had known about. Took me 2 tries.

I'm on DTV visa and first attempted to do the report online, which was rejected since the first 90 day report needs to be in person.

I showed up at the Immigration Division 1 building (Gate 2) at about 5:45am. There was an orderly line in rows and you just get in the shortest row, which is the end of the longer line. Not long after 6am, they let us in and gave us each a paper with a number indicating our place in line. I was around the 100th person each day, which I found was plenty good (no reason to come much earlier than I did). After I got the number, there is a very quick passport check and security screen similar to an airport entry. Then you can enter the building and walk around freely. There is a table near the immigration office entry with forms and officials that are helping people get the right forms they need, but if you are prepared, you won't need that. So, now you have a couple of hours to just wait, which is actually not bad since there are several coffee shops on the floor below and some vendors in the main hall with food, etc.

IMPORTANT: Around 8:15am you need to go sit in your assigned chair. This is only for the first 200 people I think (if you arrive later, then it's probably different). Basically, near where you entered, along the wall near the immigration, there are very long lines of chairs with numbers on them. Find the chair with the number of your ticket and sit there till they start bringing people in. They will do this in order of your ticket number, so be sure to stick with the people near you and keep going to the front even if people with higher numbers get confused and go in front of you. They only let you in by order of ticket, so stick to the order.

CRITICAL: Be VERY clear about what you are there to do. This is where I failed the first day. I relied on the officials to direct me. They are doing their best to move fast and will send you to the wrong place if you are not VERY CLEAR. The first day they sent me to get a tourist visa extension. I was too inexperienced to know better. The next day I corrected my mistake and made it VERY CLEAR I was there for 90 day extension. This is a different line than the 3 main lines for your next queue ticket (for me it was line 4 I believe). Line 4 is specifically for 90 day reporting queue tickets. They will give you a ticket - for me it was A1 and 029 - where A1 are the 90 day reporting processing windows and 029 was my number in line. Follow the signs to that section and wait till your number is called.

Obviously, my second attempt went much better than the first! The official that processed me never once spoke a word, just took my papers, did some stuff, then handed me the document stating I had reported.

As far as documents I took, it was these:

* Passport

* TM47 (2)

* DTV visa (2)

* Photocopy of Passport photo page (2)

* Photocopy of Passport entry stamp (2)

* TM30 (2)

The only thing the official kept and used was one copy of the TM47. The rest she just handed back to me without hardly looking at them. So, it appears I may have come overprepared, but I would much rather overdo it than underdo it.

IMPORTANT: On the first day I came, one of the officials examined my documents and told me they only accept actual "original" photocopies of the various passport pages. Meaning that you cannot just take a picture of your passport pages, then print those out (unless you are highly skilled at making it look EXACTLY like a photocopy). Just get photocopies - super cheap and easy to do.

Overall, it went much smoother than I expected. I lived in Romania before this and it was a month of prep and tons of documents and stress. This was a breeze in comparison. The flow of people is well organized. My main failure initially was not being clear enough about why I was there and expecting them to take the time to fully understand my situation. They are doing their best and trying to move as quickly as possible, so you need to be super clear and pay attention to where they are sending you.

As far as transport, I took a Grab there and that early in the morning traffic is not an issue. Drop off and pickup at Gate 2 is pretty easy. This is the main gate from what I can tell, so you shouldn't have to do anything special to have the driver drop you there. For getting home, I'd recommend taking a Grab to "National Telecom" monorail station on the Pink Line which you can then take to connect to the MRT/BTS network since the traffic may be rough when you are leaving. If you have a Rabbit card, it will work for that. I don't recommend walking to the station since there is quite a bit of construction in the area and you might have to walk in the road with traffic in some sections, which would not be fun.

Like I said, overall was not too bad, and hopefully this helps anyone doing it for the first time!

(I rarely check FB, so forgive me if I don't respond to questions right away, but I'm sure others will)

Absolute nightmare trying to extend DTV in Bangkok

Workaction category (I have a software company and I work for myself. - have clients in UK) self employed

Documents

-TM 7 + photo / Passport + copies

- Personal Bank Account statement (£40k+)

- Business Bank Account statement (£25k+)

- Business incorporation document

- CV / Portfolio print out / Letter from current client

- Rental Contract / TM30 / 90 day report

First the officer looked at the Passport and then Personal bank account. Did some currency conversion

Said he didn’t need the Business bank account statement because I have a lot already?

He was then confused about my business incorporation document. So he had to consult his Boss.

Then they started asking the silliest questions about my clients letter. And why it didn’t look like an official letter and if they could see the official business incorporation document (maybe one with a wax seal. Like in the movies)

I tried to tell them they can check UK official companies house website to check my company’s legitimacy

Then I tried to show them my clients payment into my business bank account

I explained I already got the visa with the same documents. Then they wanted me to print the client letter I submitted for my initial application (which I showed them. It’s identical with a different date)

Then they finally decided to accept. But said it will take 15 days as they need to consider it.

I started getting a bad feeling about this. Because if they’re so confused with me present - trying to explain. They’re gonna be more confused behind my back.

I told them 15 days was too long and I had to leave the country before then.

The officer was confused and said I didn’t need an extension then because this is a multiple entry visa. And I should come back after my next 180 days are up. He said I need to bring more evidence of clients next time ? And he tried to keep my TM7. But I told him na. And bounced
