For an immigration officer to conclude that a day tripper is abusing the visa exemption scheme is quite ridiculous, especially since you probably have residency in Laos. At least if they deny entry, all you got to do is just turn around and go back home.

 14 days is only for Myanmar. Other ASEAN countries are 30 days.

There is a 10 year tourist visa existing already. It's called the Elite Visa :) unfortunately many of us are unable or unwilling to pay the fee.

Is it SETV or METV? If SETV, border bounce to Thailand deactivate it (but then you'll have to apply for a new Vietnam visa)
