Can I travel to a different city in Vietnam while waiting for my DTV visa approval?

Question about e-visas (DTV if it matters).

Suppose I fly to HCMC and apply for DTV using the HCMC embassy. I submit documentation that I'm in HCMC, such as hotel bookings.

While waiting for the application to be approved, I fly to Hanoi, which is under the jurisdiction of a different embassy, but still within the country of Vietnam.

Is that allowed?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can travel within Vietnam while waiting for your DTV e-visa application to be approved. It is permitted as long as you were present in the jurisdiction of the consulate when you submitted your application. After applying, you are free to move around the country, and there are no restrictions as long as you do not return to Thailand until the visa is processed.

Okay this is the break down of where you have to be when you apply at which consulate. You only have to be there when you submit your application. After that you're free to travel the country.

totally okay to travel around the country after the visa is applied for, as long as you were in the jurisdiction of that consulate when you applied you are good..

No issue at all traveling around vietnam while you wait for it to be approved

only thing you can't do is come back to thailand

As I understand it, once you apply, you can go anywhere you want while your visa is processing.

actually my understanding is the opposite, but maybe because my impression was from the time before e-visas, where your passport was kept by the embassy for physical endorsement, and thus you couldn't travel anywhere that needed your passport as ID to travel.

@Adam ****
several times i have travelled to different countries while my evisa was processing and many people are in Thailand already by the time it is issued.

@Ryan *******
, more and more embassies state you need to be in the country until the visa issued, or application could be rejected.

@Ellie ******
is the reason because they may ask for more documents related to your presence in the country and you wonโ€™t be able to provide them if you have already left ?

@Ryan *******
Ryan Brosch that's not the reason but nevertheless would be a problem were they to do so. This warning is from the embassy in the Netherlands but everyone should heed it

correct โœ… and we urge you to STAY IN VIETNAM UNTIL THEY HAVE DECIDED on your DTV Visa Application.
Ellie *******
As you are still in the same country to travel to Thailand from Vietnam while you wait for approval , it wouldn't be a problem.
