TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their positive experience arriving in Chiang Mai airport with a DTV visa, where the immigration officer inquired about their interest in Muay Thai but seemed more curious than serious. This anecdote aims to reassure others about the arrival process in Chiang Mai, particularly regarding DTV visa holders.

Maybe it's their inside joke as they get so many people with muay thai dtv visa. And most don't even look like they could train. You know the memes 80 y/o guy in wheelchair waiving his muay thai dtv 😁

The intention is to cause unease as the IO’s next question could have been “and still doing Muay Thai”?

So the DTV didn't distinguish whether it is for soft power or workcation? Hence why he still asked?

Not 100% but I think it is only distinguished in the "Remarks" and not every Embassy adds it.

Chiang Mai is a strange one. Arriving at the airport they can be sticklers for any type of visa and other times all smiles. I have only dealt with the Immigration Office close to the airport and can only say they are the easiest I have dealt with in Thailand and the most helpful.

even stranger when you remember years ago they were the easiest airport to enter into if you have a problematic travel history, to the point where people were routing flights to land in CNX when Bangkok flights were cheaper or more convenient
