No you have to be stamped in somewhere else, but the process in Satun is very similar to what you want, but you will get a malysia stamp.

no I have never used a VPN, in the UK it's necessary to hide your identity so you don't get caught but I don't think Thailand go after consumers as strongly as the UK does.

The weather is a gamble but it is very unlikely that your holiday will be a wash out.

On the plus side it is low season so the beaches aren't as busy and I would say it's a good time to visit.

I second this I would come back via Phuket, they are more lenient with arrivals and then you can get a domestic flight from their into Bangkok.

They tried the same with me in phuket 3 years ago, I was on a tourist visa in that time and when I changed to a long term visa they didn't want insurance from me but I decided to go elsewhere.
