I was told you can set it up to receive USD. I have not done that yet. You can ask the Thai bank about that.

Sara Jones yes, the receiving bank will determine the rate. Generally the Thai banks would give you a little bit better rate but depends on how much you are transferring. If I transfer a big amount I'll use the bank. Otherwise, I use WISE.

If you are American, then get a Charles Schwab account. International Bank wire transfers are only $15 and the use of their ATM card comes with fees reimbursement worldwide.

Either your flight gets canceled or it will be diverted north over Europe with a stop which will extend your flight.

while your 800k is in the account, you start depositing 65k monthly. Once your extension is due you get the bank to show your monthly deposit. Then you don't need the 800k in the account anymore

Some Thai bank offers a better rate with a specific amount on the wire transfer with USD. I use Charles Schwab which only charges $15 fee.
