I got a covid extension until 22nd Sept.

I want to get a new passport as mine is tatty and only a few pages remaining and i want to do a fair bit of travelling in winter without returning to UK if I can help it.

Is there a way to get a replacement here whilst I am on a tourist visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, you can replace your passport while on a tourist visa in Thailand. You need to apply through VFS located in the Trendy building on Soi 13 Sukhumvit. Note that there may be significant delays due to backlogs in the UK, with waiting times reported to be around 11 to 12 weeks for processing.

Your Visa doesn't matter, it's just if you will have enough time.

I've just processed mine at VFS on Monday, I was quoted at an 11 week waiting time for the new passport to arrive in Thailand.

You can. You apply via the company VFS in the Trendy building, Soi 13 Sukhumvit.

However there is a huge backlog for passport renewals in the UK and they’re stating turn around times of 12 weeks or so. Might be slightly better now but not sure.
