The 60 then 90 is actually visa exempt. You don’t need a visa. But when you enter on the 60. You need a depart ticket and accommodations within the 60. Then you extend the extra 30 there.

I am Canadian and the airline will not allow you to board without an exit ticket and immigration in Thailand wants the same and accommodations.

Research or you’ll waste a lot of money.

You’ll need a visa to get a bank account. To open to make the deposit to got further in the process.

You can’t open a bank acct without a visa and you need to apply from outside the country.

Then you get 3 months and can open acct and make deposit and requirements. Then extend it.

If you come visa exempt you can’t apply for visa from Thailand.

Go to the embassy site it is step by step.

They won’t let you leave without a return ticket and a places to stay.

Paul Bengtsson meaning ?

I am Canadian. I can go visa exempt for 60 then get 30 day extension. Or apply for a 3 month visa. The first is easier and very common and often done. Have all your paper work and 1900 baht and a few hours being extended and it is easy.

You used to only be able to get 60 days expense. (30 and 30 day extension). So ppl would get 3 month tourist visa.

If you are from a visa exempt country, you can go 90 days legit quit an actual visa.

This person isn’t asking about extending via border runs. They are wondering if there time resets when they leave. Which it does. But not the best way to do it. I think she wants to visit Japan. Not doing it for an extension.

Tamera Stranan how are you going to work? Most work is protected.

This is where most ppl need to stop. If you don’t Jane income or a huge savings it is very difficult.

Online work for a company in the US? Probably your only option.

Google your embassy. It will tell you what you need.

Usually a large deposit and proof of income and health insurance.

We are retiring and still needed

0 baht just sitting in a bank account to get a visa. And it is supposed to stay and we have to prove it every year.

Immigration is no joke in Thailand. They take it very seriously.

You need proof of where you are staying and a return ticket if you don’t have a visa.

You’ll get 60 days and can’t apply for 30 extension. Then have to leave.

For a visa there are a lot of hoops to jump through and you need to be financially stable.

Money.

Look at your embassy it will tell you what you need.

Visa. Savings. Health insurance. Proof of income.

Then go to Thailand. Open a bank account. Deposit your deposit and go forward with the visa. Are you retiring?

Elías Molina doesn’t make sense from a business point of view. If you have the money, you can get someone to do the paperwork cheap. Why pay all the extra money to not do a simple transfer of you Jane the funds and risk being deported and banned ?

Is can be just as easy to get skneke to do it the right way. And cheaper.

Brian Loose yup. Once you use an agent. You are stuck paying and getting them to iron out the wrinkles on each renewal. They are cracking down on accounts and it is getting harder for agents and foreigners to get bank accts.

Recently many have been frozen until you speak to them and show them what they want to see.

Second one they will probably not extent. So 90. Leave. Come back for 60 and leave. Second 30 extension is probably not going to work.

Most jobs are protected for Thai ppl.

You need to do more research. As you won’t be working a livable wage.

English teachers don’t make much. At all and often are 3 month contracts. So you visa will always be needing to be redone through the school.

If they realize you are applying for work. You could get banned or fined or ?? It is enforced and frowned upon as it is seen as taking a Thai job.

You need a special skill or background in something I demand that a Thai person can’t do.

Teaching jobs that pay even close to decent by our standards you need a degree.

Most are retired or have an online job that is based on their home country.. if you could move and just work where ever. Everyone would do it. They protect themselves. You can’t own land there there either.

In fact they don’t even allow volunteering without a work visa.

Even on a tourist visa. You’ll need a return tickets and proof of accommodations.. doesn’t sound like you’ve really looked deep into this.

Where are you planning to “apply” usually you get a sponsorship from a job. But that is before you go. And like I said. It is hard to be approved.

Which schools are you looking at working? Have to contacted them for wages and contract lengths? Hours? They don’t hire you for a full school or anything.. and will dictate where you live.

Thai culture is tight knit and conservative… and they protect their land and work very strongly.

Hav you been to Thailand?

Robert Ward yes. That is the issue we all face. You can book and cancel. You might be fine. But even the arrival cards ask where you are staying and the details.

We go for 3 months at a time and I never want to book all the air bnbs before we go to a new area. Because who knows? But it is their requirement
