T5 duty free is open as normal as I work at T5.

My advice is simple. Get your friend to register. Otherwise your friend will get fined and will bring a bad start to your stay there when they have to cough up a fine of 2000 baht and his/her name on their list which if they do this again the fine gets bigger.

All it takes is one person to snitch and an immigration officer may just decide to turn up.

FCO advice is against travel to the southern border area of Thailand and Malaysia.

But always check your travel insurance as they could try and find a loophole to not pay out on a claim. Others will take Thai insurance cover.

then they do not need to be tested. All they need is a COE and fit to fly certificate. They also get free state quarantine.

Thai nationals do not need to be tested unless the airline they are travelling with insist on this.

Any repatriation flights operated by Thai Airways. Thai nationals are not tested.

everyone who comes to the UK now needs to have a RT-PCR test before landing here inc Thai people.

You need to look at your policy wording. It needs to state the coverage amount of your policy, cover while in Quarantine and also states clearly it covers covid.

Revolut has this in their premium and metal plans.
