TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the ability to stay at airport hotels in the UK before flying, particularly during the COVID-19 lockdown period. While some commenters noted that certain hotels were closed due to restrictions, others mentioned that several hotels, especially around Heathrow Airport, remained open for business. It was advised to check specific hotel statuses through booking platforms and directly contact hotels for updates. Overall, there seems to be no significant problem with booking a hotel before flying, although the level of service may vary.

Mapping out a plan to get here on a Visa without making a mistake or stepping on some officials toes are perfectly fine reasons to ask questions. Even if those questions start with trying to launch the journey. Staying at an airport hotel the day / night before the flight is a method I use to reduce stress of timing to arrive at check in, etc.

Guys, if someone comments something you believe to be inappropriate please report them so we can deal with it. If you engage in a 5 day back and forth with them it just makes it worse.

Remember, this is a community group where people come to ask for help and advice. Some questions may seem redundant because you've been in the group for years and see the same question asked often, but the person asking it is their first time. And let's be realistic, the Facebook search function sucks.

Hotels cant all be closed. There has to be at least those for foreign aircrews. Whether they will permit an overnight before travel for passengers is the question?

Hotels and B&Bs may only legally remain open for specific reasons including to accommodate people who are self-isolating, those who live in the hotel or B&B or those who are moving house. Hotels can also remain open to house people who would otherwise become homeless during lockdown.
