My question is addressed only to those who already have a DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) and work remotely as salaried employees (full-time employees) for a company outside Thailand, not as freelancers / independent contractors / self-employed.
I already hold a DTV visa and plan to work from Thailand during the winter months, for a period of up to 5 months.
I am a Greek tax resident and I work remotely as a full-time employee for a Greek IT company, using my laptop.
The main concern my company has raised is the possibility of a work-related accident (or serious incident) occurring abroad, and the potential legal or insurance liability for the employer.
Because of this, one option that was suggested by the company is switching my status from employee to independent contractor, in order to remove this type of liability from the company — something I would prefer to avoid for several reasons.
I’d really appreciate input from people who are or have been in a similar situation:
* If you work remotely as an employee with a DTV, did your company raise similar concerns about workplace accidents, employer liability, or insurance coverage when working from another country?
* If yes, how was this handled in practice?
– did you sign a waiver (e.g. a written acknowledgment limiting employer liability for working abroad)?
– was there an internal “work from abroad” policy?
– or did anyone rely only on private insurance and end up working from Thailand without informing the company at all? If so, was that ultimately the only workable solution?
Hey everyone. I'm in Thailand on a DTV and I was wondering what the process is of buying a motorcycle. I've been renting for a few months, but planning on buying one for myself. Do I need a resident certificate? Insurance? Registration? I've seen a lot of mentions of "green book" too. Anything I should be vary or mindful of?
Hi all not a visa related but I'll try anyway. I am leaving UK to move to Thailand soon and trying to get insurance here before coming. I have the problem that they want a return flight to give me the insurance also have an under investigation health problem. What does everyone do please ? Thanks
Edit it looks like I found an insurance company that doesn’t require return date. Big cat insurance
1. Rent $700 (all in for utilities, water, electric
2. Transportation $400 ($100 weekly)
3. Food $900 ($10 3x a day = $30)
4. Phone & WiFi $100
That's $2100 mandatory bills....
I still haven't
1. Clubbed/Partied
2. Tourist/Travel/Island Hop/Elephants
3. Shopped for new cloths for climate etc
4. Girlfriend Experience
What else am I forgetting????
My plan was to take 20k for a 6 month vacation 25k total with 5k for flight and and visa fees & insurance;
Pay bills in America for 6 months = $6000
14k ÷ 6 months = 2333 remaining Budget
70k savings getting 4% in high intrest saving account pays me an additional $258 monthly bringing my total BUDGET to $2591 ($2600) monthly.
With $2100 in MANDATORY bills that leaves me $500 a month to party/massages/island hop/ elephants and if push comes to shove "girlfriend experience".
Am I OVER or UNDER BUDGETING....AND WILL $500 a month be enough after MANDATORY BILLS are paid to have the kind of adventure that most are looking for?
P.S. I'm 44 so even tho I look foward to some night life nights....I see myself being more of a "visit the islands" lay up and get massages 6x a week and eat good food and visit cool locations over the club scene. But I do party....
# Seeking for advise regarding changing owners on a bike, how much of a must is it? Pros and cons. Blessings 🙏🏽
# *Editing - its complicated to issue certificate of residence with my visa, and I understood I must have it to change owners, so that's why I am asking about it.
