Anonymous participant 474 Laos doesn't require anything. It's the Thai side that requires it. And normally that's only for people trying to leave and return visa exempt (without a visa). If you have a visa, like DTV, you should be fine to bounce out and back immediately.

No one has faced any difficulty coming back on a DTV.

Sponsor letter is only for dependants applying for a DTV based on their spouse or parent. The holder of that sponsoring DTV can also sponsor the dependants so they don't have to show their own bank account.

Many embassies ask for the 500k as well as proof of payslips so they know you can support yourself while you're in Thailand.

@Ray *******
yes. Everyone who hosts a foreigner is legally required to file it

legally yes it's required. If they're just staying for a short time before going somewhere else then realistically can be ignored.

if they're the property owner of where you are staying then yes, they would be the ones to do it. What type of visa you're on is irrelevant.

TM30 is filed by property owners any time a foreigner spends the night at their property. Legally must be filed within 24 hours of the foreigner arriving at the property. There are actually many countries that have a similar process (Korea, Japan, European countries), but those countries don't penalize the person for the property owner's failure to file this like Thailand does.

TM47 is a 90-day report. It is a foreigner's responsibility to report their location to the government every 90 consecutive days in Thailand.

They expect us to pay to almost kill ourselves? I almost died on that trail! But I guess having to pay would've kept me safe because I would've avoided it.

Sad to hear about Doi Pui. I drove up there in the middle of Covid and was the only person around. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I don't think I'd go back if I had to pay.

I think it has nothing to do with the government. This is a single bank's policy. Banks are private businesses and can set whatever policies they want. Speak with your feet and go to a different bank. Bangkok Bank has proven they can't be trusted.

What you are asking about is not an extension. You would get a brand new entry stamp if you leave Thailand and return.

An extension is something you apply for and pay for at your local immigration office.
