As of today, the covid extensions are officially over. That doesn't mean there won't be a surprise announcement, but it's highly unlikely.

Reports already say that the state of emergency and the CCSA will be allowed to end October 1st, which is more evidence pointing towards the covid extensions being done once and for all.

You should start making alternate plans now if you're on a covid extension.

TLDR : Answer Summary
As of now, COVID-19 extensions for visas in Thailand are officially over, with reports indicating that the state of emergency and the CCSA will be ending on October 1st. Expats currently on COVID extensions are advised to start making alternate plans, as the likelihood of further extensions is low.
