IF you're IN thailand already on the DTV you'd contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office out at the government complex on Chaengwattana Road

They are the office that oversees ALL the thai embassies/consulates in the world AND they'd be the one to tell you IF you can even cancel a DTV or not

What you can't do is get any other visa type why the DTV is active AND seeing as it's a 5 year multi-entry visa that's a good while

yeh l would check also because the child is not the main visa nomonee but a dependent so it maybe ok for the child to study under the DTV . I would suspect it would be ok but the school would not have knowledge of that

surely sounds crazy the school is requiring the Ed Visa... Possibly not familiar with the DTV visa as it's too new 🆕

Sounds more like a control tactic. They want the child's permission to stay in Thailand linked with continued payment of tuition. Stop paying and then they must leave. Same as jobs wanting employees on non-B instead of marriage.

but you can convert it to another visa type at an immigration office just as you can for other tourist visas. Whether that includes ED visas or not I don't know but I don't see why not.

I don't think that DTV can be converted inside the country to another type of Non-Imm visa 😕

if it can I have never heard of it (seeing as it's just a 10 month old visa program)

it was in the details of the DTV published in the Royal Gazette - Section 5 Aliens and their dependents who have been granted a special tourist visa (Destination Thailand Visa: DTV) and later wish to change the visa type or apply for a visa to temporarily stay in the Kingdom for other purposes may do so and the original special tourist visa (Destination Thailand Visa: DTV) shall be invalid. However, consideration of permission to change the visa type and to temporarily stay in the Kingdom for other purposes shall be in accordance with the criteria, methods and conditions set by the Immigration Bureau.

Before my son enrolls at school in Thailand,he stayed with DTV visa under my guardian.But now he is enrolled in school and they told that he can not stay with DTV .He need to change ED visa back .And told us that ED visa cannot be swap in Thailand.At first ,we have to cancel his DTV visa and leave the country and come back with TR visa.And then they can change the Ed visa .But i don't know DTV can be cancelled or not and what is needed to do.

I don't believe you can cancel a DTV visa, only convert it to another type of visa at a local immigration office.
