Richard just posted some big news about when you can apply for the new entry program, as well as how quarantine free unvaccinated entry will work.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent updates indicate that unvaccinated international travelers can now enter Thailand with only a negative RT-PCR test prior to travel, eliminating the need for pre-arrival proof of a negative test and quarantine upon arrival. They must register for a Thailand Pass with a 5-day hotel booking and insurance coverage of at least $10,000. Additionally, those who upload proof of a recent negative RT-PCR test may be allowed entry without quarantine. The specifics on the Thailand Pass application process and the definition of fully vaccinated (2 or 3 jabs) remain unclear.

So I am already approved for arrival on may 4. Do I still need to do the 1 day quarantine as that was part of my Thai pass application?

@Philip ********
not if you are vaccinated.. There is this new law and probably unvaccinated people need just a pcr test without quarantine.. But we need to waiting.. Is not clear now

@Klaus *****
ok great. I’m vaccinated. So I don’t have to reapply for Thai pass? I can just use the Thai pass I have, show up at airport and go straight to my own place?

it should work that way, but the law isn't passed just yet.

... International travellers who are unvaccinated or are not fully vaccinated will also no longer be required to show proof of a pre-arrival negative RT-PCR test nor undergo an arrival test. They are required to register for a Thailand Pass with a 5-day hotel booking and an insurance policy with coverage no less than US$10,000 (reduced from US$20,000). Once arriving in Thailand, they must proceed to undergo the quarantine for 5 days and undergo an RT- PCR test on Day 5. Exception is made for unvaccinated travellers who are able to upload proof of a negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of travel via the Thailand Pass system, they- like those fully vaccinated - will be allowed entry and are free to go anywhere in the kingdom.

So is not clear.. If I'm not vaccinated I just need a pcr test without quarantine?

yes, but it's not that simple. You'll need to submit your PCR test results as part of your Thailand Pass application, which will make the timing of everything very tight and probably a little scary. Meaning you won't have permission to enter Thailand until maybe 24 hours or less before your travel date.

ok.. But I think they still change this option because it's unclear

@Klaus *****
possibly. But I've been talking to Richard Barrow today while he was getting details from the MFA. I told him I thought you'd get your Thailand Pass and then show your test results at the airport, but they specifically told him that you must upload the rest results to get your Thailand Pass. But none of this is official until published in the Royal Gazette so we'll have to wait and see what the final guidelines are.

It seems that unvaccinated can now enter with just a pcr test prior to travel. Just need to get an idea how this will work on the Thailand pass application. I presume you apply ten days before then choose this option and upload pcr three days before flying.
Marc ********
@Ian ********
I think you apply for the Thailand pass anytime. You get the pass and can only enter with a negtive test.

No negative test you cannot enter simple

@Marc *******
I don't know why people are speculating just a few hours after the News is out. All will become clear soon m
Ian *********
@Marc *******
you can enter but then you would be quarantine and pcr test on day five.
Marc ********
@Ian ********
I am not doubting you can enter. I am only doubting you will have to upload a negative test for the Thai pass.

Why would they change the pass that much?

Right now you need to upload the required documents. You will get the pass. But if you cannot enter thailand without an additional negative test.

I know they don't always operate logical.

But this is too much. They would make it too hard for themselves being forced having to issue Thaipass within a couple of hours

they don't want it to be easy for unvaccinated people. They want vaccinated tourists. So the options are either do 5 days quarantine, or jump through extra hoops. It makes perfect sense.

@Marc *******
no, Richard confirmed you must upload the test results to get the Thailand Pass. No test results, no pass, no boarding your plane. If you don't want to risk it then you just sign up for 5 days quarantine.

Richard confirmed it... okπŸ˜†πŸ™„

I think you wait until you have your test results and then apply. They're only checking insurance and test results. Should be fast.
Ian *********
@Brandon ***********
that sounds risky to me when usual thai pass application must be done ten days before. It definitely needs clarifying.

@Ian ********
Thailand pass application is getting approved within 15-24 hours. We have applied for 3 individuals and it got approved in 10-12 hours

they're only checking 2 things so it's supposed to be fast according to the MFA
