TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus in the comments suggests that applying for the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) should ideally be done within 1-3 months before your intended travel date. While some users mention that it is possible to apply earlier, particularly up to 4 months in advance, most embassies may not process applications if the intended travel date is more than 3 months away. Additionally, it's important to clarify that the DTV is considered more of a tourist visa with specific renewal requirements, rather than a long-term stay visa.

Some embassies will not start processing your application until it's closer to the flight date, so you may be stuck on pending for a while

Realize that DTV is just a tourist visa, and not really a long stay visa. You have to do border runs at least every 180 days, and nobody knows how long that will be done as easy as it is now.

You can do it. Keep in mind that it becomes active and the 5 year countdown starts once approved.

I read that it shouldn't be done prior to 3 months of travel. Is that no longer advised?
