If your country qualifies and you’re staying 60 days or less, sounds like you’d have an easier time by getting a 45 day visa exemption stamp on arrival. Once in country, you can go to immigration office and extend your stay for up to an extra 30 days at a cost of 1900bht. Job done!

I don’t see why you can’t ‘apply’ as long as you are a full 14 days after 2nd jab before you fly.

Not an expert here but have been investigating this visa as I’m also looking to stay long term in the near future.

My understanding is that the ‘initial’ OA visa is a multiple entry long stay visa. After ‘one year’ you apply for an ‘extension’ based on ‘retirement’. Could that be the issue??

Happy to be corrected if wrong as this information will be of help to me in due course.

Not married so 800k is the cheaper option 😉

Cheers. Trying to get the basic requirements of extending the O as it stands right now. I know it’s very difficult to exclude the current circumstances, but I’ll tackle the extra requirements as and when they change as I’m sure they will before I make my application. Thanks for your help.

I heard today, you can leave and re-enter the country, which then automatically extends your OA for another year. Obviously would have to do quarantine in Phuket but if you’re double jabbed then no issue and would potentially sort your problem? Not an expert, happy to be corrected.

Ok, so much conflicting info I’m getting. So you’re saying that the O visa extension gets you a further 12 months (retirement) stay by just showing your passport??

David Broadfoot Problem here is, there are so many different explanations from so many different people that now I’m back to being confused.

So what you’re saying is…. If you enter on an O visa that doesn’t need insurance, medical check, police check, has smaller fee etc, when you apply for the extension, you still don’t need to have those requirements to get the extension?
