TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a new 60-day tourist visa after exiting Thailand, the best options mentioned are Savannakhet in Laos and Penang in Malaysia, as they do not require prior appointments for visa applications. However, it's important to check specific requirements on the visa processing websites for these locations. Additionally, it's noted that not all nationalities may receive the full 60 days; some may only be eligible for 30 days, especially after new agreements affecting Chinese travelers are put into place.

People best hope they don't do what they have just done to the Chinese from 1st March. 90 days in 180 and you're done for Tourist visas and visa exempt entries.

Also they cannot change to any other visa on these entries.

Watch out if TAT get their way on 90 visa exempt entries.

BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- China and Thailand signed a mutual visa exemption agreement on Sunday, which will come into effect from March 1, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.

By then, Chinese holders of ordinary official passports and ordinary passports and Thai holders of ordinary passports will be allowed to enter and stay in each other's country visa-free for up to 30 days (no more than 90 days per 180 days). Those who enter each other's country for work, study, news reporting, residence and some other activities requiring prior approval and plan to stay in each other's country for more than 30 days shall obtain the corresponding visa before entering each other's country.

If you are not chinese or rus, then I am pretty sure you get 30 days, not 60.

He’s talking about getting a tourist visa that allows for 60 days on entry that you buy at a Thai consulate or embassy.

Visa exempt if eligible is for 30 days and currently includes Chinese. Russians currently get either a 30 or 90 day visa waiver entry.

Savannakhet, in Vientiane you have to book appointment

Depends where in Thailand you are. Savannakhet in Laos or Penang in Malaysia don’t require prior appointments so are good options. Check the website of the place you decide to determine their requirements.

Thank s for the reply. I’m in Phuket. I should have worded it better I think. Distance doesn’t matter as I’m prepared to fly anywhere. Just want a place that I can turn up on the day with the correct documents and get the visa.

If your flying one thing to consider when choosing where to go is if you need a Visa to enter there as that will add to your total cost.

all SE Asia consulates will require you to submit on working day 1 and collect the following afternoon or 3rd day afternoon for some.
