Is it possible to go from a 60 day TV with a 30 day extension to a NON-O in country?

Edit - Purely to get a 6 month stay only, without having to leave and re-enter. Currently still in UK and trying to plan ahead.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The possibility of converting a 60-day tourist visa (TV) with an extension to a NON-O visa depends on the applicant's qualifications, particularly the reason for the NON-O application. For retirement or marriage, the conversion is typically allowed, provided that the applicant is over 50 and has the required financial means (800,000 baht in a Thai bank account). However, if already on an extension, one must consider the minimum length of stay required to apply for the NON-O. Generally, applicants may find exiting and re-entering Thailand to be a safer option.

Yes if you meet the requirements. Are you over 50? If so you can apply but you first need to transfer 800k baht into a Thai bank from overseas. Then as the 90 day Non-O runs down you can apply for a 12 month extension

Yes over 50 but not interested in an extension.

you would still need the 800k for the initial 90 day Non-O even if not planning on an extension

, yes looking like there’s no other way than exiting and re-entering via airport to be safe.

If you have 800k in a Thai bank account no problem and have the right reason

Yeah already the plan but was asking if there was a solution, without having to leave. Apparently there isn’t so off to Cambodia for a week.

If you're already on an extension the clock is ticking as Immigration Offices impose a minimum number of days remaining on your current stamp to process the Non-O.

Do you have a Thai bank account yet as that will determine how long you need?

Depends on the reason for issuing the non O. For retirement or marriage, yes. For being a dependent of another foreigner on a long term visa usually no.

- my long time partner is Cambodian. We now take care of her 4 yr old cambodian niece. We have enrolled her in a local international school. the school has sent the required documentation to immigration, still waiting to hear back from immigration. My partner and niece are on 60 day tourist visas which i plan on extending before January 4th for 30 days.

I am hoping that the child will be classed as an international student which would allow her to get an educational visa. I was also hoping that my partner would then qualify as a dependant and she could follow on her nieces ED visa. I have read up on whats required. Do you think this 'plan' may be not as straightforward as it reads on immigration website ? Thanks

Not sure on that one. If it was your partners child and was granted a non Ed visa for an international school then the answer would be yes. As it’s her niece you’d have to check with immigration to see if that’s allowed, and what sort of guardian paperwork they’d need.

A non O needs a reason. Over 50, married, Thai child and so on.

Over 50 but not interested in NON-O extension. Ok, thanks. So need to leave and return. Got it.
