Been offered a position with a company who will supply my work visa. For my own benefit, was wondering what the process is. Can anyone explain what’s needed and approx time scales? TIA.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process of obtaining a work visa when sponsored by a company can vary significantly depending on several factors, such as your current location, the nature of your job, and the specific requirements of Thai immigration. Generally, the sponsoring company will provide the necessary documentation, but the overall complexity and time can differ. Some users shared experiences indicating it can take from a few weeks to a longer timeframe, depending on the diligence of the company in preparing documents and the requirements of immigration, which can include additional verifications.

There is no straight forward answer as all cases are different in occupation and locations, I was with a Logistics company whose head office was in Khon Kaen, I had both my visa and work permit within 3 weeks.

It's actually a pain in the rear for companies to do this. When they did mine in Chiang mai, it was over 400 pages of documents. Immigration also wanted originals or everything so 800 pages.

Took 2 staff 2 weeks to prepare. Immigration also went to my work place and asked each and every worker, all 89, if I actually worked there.

only to be done all over again next year

Where are you now?

Difficult to say except your company will give you the required documents for the visa and you may likely need to go to the RTE of a neighbouring country as the required documents are fewer and less arduous than submitting in LOS.

Bear in mind, your WP will likely need to be sorted subsequently.

YMMV

Embassies don't issue work permits, only visas
