Very stressed. Thai embassy just can’t get over the fact I am staying in a guesthouse. I have sent them a receipt and TM30. My flight is next Wednesday to Chiang Mai from Hanoi.

I’ve been trying for days to fill out the Thai e visa to enter Thailand from Australia. It allows you to fill out down to accomodation then you can’t proceed further. Any one else had this issue ? Regards Stephen

My husband and I just applied for the online tourist visa. We are coming in 2 weeks for a 1 week vacation. They rejected our visas because the pictures I uploaded weren’t good enough. It was a huge pain in the butt. My question is can we just show up with our documents and get in? We are from the US and paid the $40 each already

I applied for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) through the London embassy on 11 September.

The next day (12 Sept) I received a request for more documents, which I uploaded right away.

However, my application has been stuck on “Pending Document Check” ever since.

Here’s the snag: I accidentally uploaded a Monzo business account statement instead of a personal one (it’s my sole-trader account with my name/address) and only after I realized they wanted a personal bank statement not a business one. I expected they’d email me again asking for a personal statement, but I’ve heard nothing, no email, no portal message, for over a week.

What’s puzzling is that:

• My wife applied a week earlier and her DTV was approved within a week, she uploaded her Revolut personal statement and after a day the application was already in pending approval and after few days approved, took like 6 working days in total

• Several friends applied around the same time as me and were also approved quickly, even when they had to resubmit documents, only 1-2 days in pending document check and then in pending approval and after 4-5 days they got approved.

But in my case, it’s been 6 working days already where the visa status didn’t change at all from “pending document check” and they’re not even asking me for more documents, look like it’s just stuck.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with the London Thai Embassy, especially if you accidentally submitted a business account statement?

Did it just take extra time, or will they eventually email again for the correct personal statement?

I truly cannot understand why so many people continue to complain: “My bank account was closed,” or “I entered my full passport name yet my DTV visa was rejected or canceled.” If one approaches Thailand with such a negative mindset, perhaps it is better not to come at all. This country does not need individuals who carry only bitterness and discontent.

I have lived in Thailand for many years and I can state with certainty that the government’s priority is to safeguard its citizens. We must remember that we are merely guests here; we are neither permanent residents nor Thai nationals. Recent incidents of widespread call-center scams have caused countless Thai families to lose their savings. Even people close to me, including the parents of my Thai friends, were victims of these fraudulent schemes.

This is why, when I hear constant complaints such as “Why does Thailand keep changing the laws?” I see it differently. To me, it is a positive and necessary measure. Wrongdoers continually devise new methods to exploit the system, and in response the government must adapt its regulations. This is not about disregarding foreigners, but about prioritizing the protection of Thai citizens—which is precisely what every responsible government should do.

There is also a great deal of misinformation circulating. Instead of spreading complaints, I encourage people to read credible news sources such as the *Bangkok Post*. Not every account will be closed, and not every case is treated the same. Stop exaggerating. Perfection does not exist anywhere in the world.

I am originally from the United States, and even my country has its strengths and flaws, just as every nation does. If you wish to live in Thailand, you must accept reality with gratitude and maintain a positive attitude. Thailand is a paradise for those who respect it and embrace its way of life. However, if constant criticism is all you bring, then perhaps it is better that you do not come at all, as negativity only diminishes the experience for those who truly value being here.

I applied the DTV and got rejected for a reason that seemed to be ridiculous. The reply said that my application was cancelled because when I input my name, there was one missing "-" and not exactly the same as that on my passport. Do you have similiar reject experience due to this kind of small typo difference? They took my money and kick me out just due to this easily correctable typo which I don't it can be classified as a mistake......

Has anyone encountered this message when applying for the DTV after uploading their passport scan?

“Biodata page of travel document – We are unable to retrieve data from the MRZ. Please enter your travel document’s biographic information manually.”

Does this mean my passport scan isn’t clear enough? I used a scanner, and it looks clear to me and has high definition even after zooming in so I wonder why it couldn’t read the information from it 🙏🏻

🚨 Hi everyone, I urgently need your help regarding the Non-Immigrant ED Visa for Thailand. 🚨

I applied for the ED visa online yesterday, and unfortunately received the message "Your visa application has been cancelled" just a few hours later.

The application fee was already paid, but unfortunately it’s non-refundable.

I wasn’t told the reason for the rejection, but when reviewing my documents I noticed that I had made a mistake in my initial application.

I had accidentally written the course period as July 2025 to November 2026, which would of course exceed the normal visa period. Even though the official school letter clearly says July 2025 to November 2025. I've now corrected that mistake.

However, I’m still unsure if there’s another issue.

According to the school's letter, the program starts on July 26, 2025, but my planned arrival in Thailand is only in September 2025.

Could this timing mismatch be the reason for the rejection?

Is it a problem if the course officially begins before I enter the country?

I’d really appreciate your help:

* What are the most common mistakes with the ED visa application?

* When specifying the duration of stay, do I need to match the course dates exactly, or only my personal travel dates?

* Do I already need to have a return flight booked for the visa to be approved, even if I plan to extend my stay later?

* What should I pay extra attention to?

* Has anyone had a similar experience and can give me advice?

Unfortunately, I can’t contact the embassy until Monday by phone or email.
