Open a Wise (Multi Currency) account - which gives you several international bank account numbers for free. Use Deemoney to transfer money from Thailand to it. Then use that Wise account to exchange or send money anywhere, including New Zealand.
Just like with almost every overly bureaucratic institution in Thailand, you can go and shop around for more favorable conditions. Just check several Amphoes until one gives you decent favorable conditions. I do the same with immigration.
The usual immigration mess again. Happened to me once, too. They asked for landlord ID when extending my stay. Funny - if not to say stupid, cause I presented them with a fresh TM.30 which the very landlord had to do for me the day before (using his ID). It is absolutely impractical to ask someone for another ones ID - as people are understandably hesitant to pass those around to strangers. Why would they have TM30 as proof of address and landlords identity only to then ask the extending applicant again. Another case of someone at immigration not getting their own work.
Despite what people say, there is one payment method almost equally accepted in Thailand: QR Code / PromotPay payment (as it is required by law to offer) and every Thai has it / almost everybody uses it. Formerly, this was only available to those who opened a Thai bank account. It is however now also available via the TrueMoney wallet - which is more easy to setup for foreigners as well. And TrueMoney can then be linked with credit cards to top it up. Thus in theory everybody could now pay for almost everything with QR. I am just not sure AMEX (or foreign issued credit cards) are linkable there. Maybe someone could pitch in.
No they cannot. If entering new now (tourist visa or extension), people would first need to get the one time regular 30 day extension. Which would take them beyond the current cut-off date.
More details on the potentially soon the be introduced long-term residence LTR visa. Made more flexible requirements seem rather doable now. Pricing at 50k baht for a 10-year visa fair, much better than the overpriced Elite Visa. So, the big question is: When will this visa actually be ready to be applied for and where / how? And in this regard: When will RTE consulates around the world then be aware of such new visa and the underlying procedures? Fingers crossed it is now only a matter of a few weeks.
