What should I do if my landlord won't provide their ID for my retirement visa extension in Thailand?

So the new requirement for extending retirement visa non-O is a copy of the landlord's ID. Well, my landlord refuses to give his ID and in any case is not even in Thailand and very difficult to reach. You have to deal with a host of secretaries and middle persons who are absolutely not cooperative. What to do?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is facing challenges in extending their NON-O retirement visa in Thailand due to a new requirement for a copy of the landlord's ID. They mention their landlord is uncooperative, currently out of the country, and difficult to contact. Community members suggest various solutions, including using a legal rental lease, the TM30 form, and the possibility of hiring an agency to help navigate the immigration requirements.

The usual immigration mess again. Happened to me once, too. They asked for landlord ID when extending my stay. Funny - if not to say stupid, cause I presented them with a fresh TM.30 which the very landlord had to do for me the day before (using his ID). It is absolutely impractical to ask someone for another ones ID - as people are understandably hesitant to pass those around to strangers. Why would they have TM30 as proof of address and landlords identity only to then ask the extending applicant again. Another case of someone at immigration not getting their own work.

All your landlord needs to do is photo copy or take photo of his ID and email / line to you

Sometimes it is because they are paranoid that you will use his ID to get credit on things, make it clear he can write across the copy of it that it is for immiagration purposes only. I had a landlord the same buy gave it when I said they could write that on it.

We have to somehow overcome that stupid requirement and I think I can find an agency that can get around it.

That is not so easy. We have lived in the same condo for 25 years, location is prime and rent is low. We are travelling to Europe within two months. Not a good time to move.

My lawyer, Siam Legal, says it is now a requirement. I renew at Chaeng Whattana.

I think what is required is a TM30. If you have a lease you should be able to self register.

If you have a legal rental lease you already have it. It's required on a Thai lease/rental agreement (a copy of their I.D. or passport)

Seems improbable (for which, read irresponsible) that anyone would rent from a landlord without verifying that the person renting is actually the landlord (i.e. by producing a copy of their ID - same for the tenant) but maybe some people are too trusting
