morning all, another question for you, not visa related but more bank account so I think it's visa related anyway, so struggling to decide on 2 things,
first is sending my 800,000 for my non o retirement visa, not keen on having to add details to wise and then send the money to them first , I might just use my Lloyds international account.
second one I was thinking of getting this xpatphone for my UK number and just buy a data SIM , would the bank still take the paperwork from the phone shop as evidence or do they need a Thai phone number as well, so I can download the bank app,
thanks again for all your help though the run up to the move.
my NON-O retirement Visa and will be leaving on the 11 of Dec 25
To Bangkok Thailand
I have secured a condo
For a year s lease
And will take the necessary docs to immigration and then to a Bank to open a Bank Account my question is what steps to take to deposit the required monies into the new Thai bank after opening this bank account
I can have the required monies
Sent directly to bank in Thailand thru USA bank
But that would take some time
Hours days ? does bank allowed
Time for monies to transfer
As I would not have the required deposit on my person
Need advices on money transfer. Anyone wired 800,000 baht (using Swift code) from a US bank to Thai bank account recently? what US bank did you use? TIA
Talking about Thai bank accounts I have a question is it better for me to send money to account and then withdraw it for spending money or should I just keep using my debit card on my American bank account. I wasn’t sure what the transfer fees would be sending it to my Thai bank account. Right now I just have the ฿430,000 for my marriage visa.
The good news is my ฿430,000 has been in the Thai Bank, K Bank for 2 months. I just had my visa agent fill out all the paperwork so I can get my one month visa. With in the next 2 weeks the police will come to my house to make sure I really live with my wife as a husband. Once that is completed I can get the one year extension. Thanks for all of the information in this group!!!
I know that we are here to discuss visa advice, however I would argue that the fees related to moving money make the various methods of money transfer viable or not viable.
I have one last post about Bangkok Bank because I was about to abandon the ฿65,000 monthly transfer because moving to Swift method more than quadrupled the fees making it untenable. On the advice of another member of the group I attempted a 65,000 baht deposit into my Bangkok bank account after it was unfrozen in October. The deposit was accepted and using normal wise non-swift transfer the fees went back to the normal $16 a transfer as opposed to $80 via Swift. More importantly, the transfer is correctly noted as an international transfer. I am keeping my Bangkok bank account and will let you know my success in moving from the 800,000 baht method to the monthly transfer method when my visa renews this January.
Hey all, thanks for all the good advice from a few weeks ago. l am now set to travel on 11 October via Singapore and into Jomtien Monday 12. Just 1 last question for the group....
Is it easier to bring a money order, bank check or travellers check to the value of 800,000thb? Can't take that much cash, approx $au38,000 and without an account to transfer into, cannot do an EFT.
Slightly off topic but a segment off requirements for a long term extension. I am UK based passport bank account etc. For transferring the required sums I have hit a brick wall with my bank. They do not send money to Thailand. I am looking for recommendations for a 3rd party way, any recommendations from people in the same situation would be very much appreciated
Hi Guys, opened my two bank accounts yesterday with KASIKORNBANK in Hua Hin and now want to fund them. First to transfer money to a savings account..and a mimimum of 800k bht then transferring from there to a Fixed Deposit Account which pays some low interest, about 1%, but better than nothing. The minimum 800k bht to stay in that account to satisfy Non O immigrant requirement.
I have been having a nightmare trying to transfer money from my UK Lloyds account..with also exorbitant transfer costs. So transferred some money from my Wise account just to see the difference. The Wise transaction was done in seconds and at a good rate of 43.5bht / £.
I am now thinking of doing the balance with Wise but understand there may be issues in the future.(?). So would appreciate any advice?
And btw: didn’t need to go to immigration at all. Just took my owner documents, blue book etc., together with my passport and that was enough evidence for them to open my accounts. Thank you.
