TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about their visa status after arriving in Thailand and the possibility of obtaining an extension due to the recently extended COVID visa. Comments clarify that the Thai pass does not correspond to a visa, leading to a Visa Exempt entry instead of the expected Visa on Arrival. Users emphasize that the COVID extension requires first applying for a 30-day extension, with varying experiences shared regarding the immigration process and required documentation.

Talk to an agent. I was told to covert my tourist visa between 5,000 - 10,000.

I'll sort it for 4500 excluding extension fee. Bargain.

I literally asked the Thai embassy that this morning and they said no. Only 30 days upon arrival.

No they cannot. If entering new now (tourist visa or extension), people would first need to get the one time regular 30 day extension. Which would take them beyond the current cut-off date.

Did you pay for a tourist e visa? If you did then immigration stamped you in wrong. Print out your e-visa and go to immigration asap. If you didn't pay then you were only going to get visa exempt and you'll need need to go to immigration anyway to get extended

was in Bangkok immigration to get the covid extension yesterday and it was an absolute random back and forward they wanted to see all kinds of documents and now they only extended me for 15 days and said i have to be back for the third time to get 45 days stamped for free. weird. next time i get a real visa or go to another country

it’ s the case like that for approximately everyone and here in Chiangmai until the beginning. Pay the amount of 1900 bahts receive 15 days and a stamp under consideration, you come back and you receive 45 days more ( usual procedure) or if it is refused (rarely) a stamp for 7 days to leave the country. Be happy because here without a letter of your Embassy you have very few chances to receive a Covid extension again and that stays under the appreciation of the officier of immigration . It’s a privileged that Thailand give, not a right. So be happy to receive it

The covid extension is not free. It's 1900 baht for 60 days. Sadly many people cannot grasp that simple concept

Haha! I've lived here for 12 years. Like many long-termers, we're sick of the entitled whiners.

@Bobby *******
you're an online troll
David *******
@Elie ********
think you are the troll as you clearly dont know how things work. The 15 days is for under consideration then you go back for 45 day stamp. You obviously want to try to live here by any means using covid extension even though its possible to fly anywhere now , or ed visa.

@Bobby *******
1900 THB and a lot of time wasted at this bkk immigration
Bobby ********
@Elie ********
It is what it is. Why don't you simply carry out your promise and go to another country? There's enough foreign whiners already in Thailand!
Elie *********
@Bobby *******
im here in bkk mate living my best life. the hassle with immigration not gonna bother me too much
Bobby ********
@Elie ********
So you're living your best life but stating you'll go to another country because you're having a meltdown over spending a few hours at an immigration office? Wow! 🤣
Elie *********
@Bobby *******
I'm flexible and take the best option. if i knew i have to show up at immigration 3 times for just 2 months extension i could've went to Indonesia earlier and come back to Thailand to get a education visa later on this year
Bobby ********
@Elie ********
And what you don't understand is it's a bullshit extension. Immigration want to make life difficult because it's not a proper visa. So suck it up. Or carry out one of your promises instead of perpetually whining. Go to another country. Oh hang on! You're having the time of your life. Sounds a bit contradictory. Or go to Indonesia. Stay there preferably, because no doubt they'll treat you much better! 😆
Elie *********
@Bobby *******
of course i paid but for 15 days. need to go again for another 45 days
Bobby ********
@Elie ********
You paid for 60 days. You have no idea how the covid extension works, that's all 😆

The Thai pass is nothing to worry with a visa. I also doubt you have a Via on Arrival but in fact have a visa exempt entry as you didn't apply for a tourist visa at a Thai consulate before coming to Thailand. That means you are stamped in for 30 days which you can extend for a further 30 days.

The "Covid" extension is still available (you must do the 30 day extension first) and you are able to apply for it. But bear in mind they don't have to issue it to you, the decision is down to the immigration officer you speak to on the day.

You could not apply for a visa when applying for the Pass so that's why you didn't get a visa. Pass is Pass only to enter Thailand nothing to do with a visa.
