I guess the guidance would be — if I currently have visa valid to 30 November — to wait until I’m midway into the month of November to see if I could get a 60-day extension to end of (correcting month) January? Too early to say?
You could try BTS to Mo Chit then a taxi from there. I’m in Asoke and have been to MTT four times recently. Headed back today actually. There is no guaranteed good way, in my experience. 😞 And regardless of time of day, you likely will run into bad traffic. 😩
I got mine replaced -- at a police station near Muang Thong Thani, actually -- the day I went to apply for an extension. (I'm also here on tourist amnesty; entered on 28 February.) It was very straightforward; took maybe 10 minutes from the time I got there.
My experience was that you definitely need an online queue reservation. The first time (of three consecutive business-day trips out there) I was sent away because I didn’t have an appointment. I was pretty sad about it because the place looked almost empty but they were very clear/adamant that I needed one. I was actually told that I should bring a print-out of my reservation. 🤷🏾♀️
Weeellll... I'm staying positive. I'm currently in the limbo state of "application under consideration". But yeah, I was feeling PRETTY demoralized after three trips out there in five days.
: Maybe nothing has changed but considering I got an “application under consideration” stamp on 31 Aug — after paying 1900 baht — to return on 14 September, this new announcement is slightly encouraging.
