Been coming on a METV for a few years with no problem on a one way ticket. This year I was stopped at immigration and taken to office then told this was the reason I was stopped. I was able to show a rental agreement I had on my phone showing the end date and they let me in. O visa next time for me.

Malkolm MacTavish They need to change the wording of the METV because what I’ve done and what you’ve said , we have done it by the rules, however as we know rules here change daily and are interpreted differently by each official.

I have used a 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for the past four years and have always entered Thailand without any issues at immigration. I normally stay for around five months during each visit, leave and return before my 60 day stamp

Prior to this, my trips to Thailand were typically short stays of two to three weeks. In 26 years of visiting Thailand, I have never overstayed. I have always held the appropriate visa and have always left well before its expiry date. In fact, I have rarely stayed anywhere near the full 60-day permission stamp in my passport nor the full 6 months of my visa

My initial METV visa application in the UK this year was accepted without the requirement to provide a return ticket, as my travel plans during the visa period were flexible. I arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport without any problems. I later

Travelled to Singapore and came back into Thailand without any problems. I then travelled to Vietnam for one week and, upon returning to Thailand, I was taken to the immigration office because I did not have a return flight to the UK. I believe this may have been because I left the relevant field blank on the TDAC form. This was due to my flexible itinerary.

I understand that a return ticket even on a METV is now required ( and I know there are various online options of showing a return ticket)

I’m in the process of doing the retirement visa now to save any further issues.

The METV worked for me for 4 years but it just seems that using this for long term can arouse suspicion at immigration.

Constructive comments please 😀

I live and work in the Uk 7 months of the year then come to Thailand for 5 months ( avoiding the UK winter) For the last 4 years I’ve used a 6 month multi entry visa without any issues. I get my 60 day stamp then go travelling Lao , Vietnam etc. I normally go back to

The UK well before the end of my visa.

My question is, are people now finding this type of visa an issue now ?
