What exactly do I need to fill out at DTAC when I arrive with DTV? Do I need to fill out a return ticket and date? And if I'm sleeping at a friend's house, do I need to fill out his address?
Answer summary
Upon arrival in Thailand with a DTV, you are required to fill out the TDAC form (previously referenced incorrectly as DTAC). It's generally expected to include your accommodation address; if you're staying at a friend's house, you should provide their address. Filling out a departure date might not be mandatory, but it's advisable to check current requirements. Additionally, there are comments suggesting that providing a return ticket may be necessary, especially with a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV), to avoid issues at immigration. Bringing a flexible itinerary may also require careful handling of the form details to prevent complications.

I have used a 6-month Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for the past four years and have always entered Thailand without any issues at immigration. I normally stay for around five months during each visit, leave and return before my 60 day stamp
Prior to this, my trips to Thailand were typically short stays of two to three weeks. In 26 years of visiting Thailand, I have never overstayed. I have always held the appropriate visa and have always left well before its expiry date. In fact, I have rarely stayed anywhere near the full 60-day permission stamp in my passport nor the full 6 months of my visa
My initial METV visa application in the UK this year was accepted without the requirement to provide a return ticket, as my travel plans during the visa period were flexible. I arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport without any problems. I later
Travelled to Singapore and came back into Thailand without any problems. I then travelled to Vietnam for one week and, upon returning to Thailand, I was taken to the immigration office because I did not have a return flight to the UK. I believe this may have been because I left the relevant field blank on the TDAC form. This was due to my flexible itinerary.
I understand that a return ticket even on a METV is now required ( and I know there are various online options of showing a return ticket)
I’m in the process of doing the retirement visa now to save any further issues.
The METV worked for me for 4 years but it just seems that using this for long term can arouse suspicion at immigration.
This is cause for concern. Thank you for your comment. I come to Thailand to escape the winters and want to be able to use the “proper visa” . I’m beginning to think there isn’t one. I have no plans to retire anytime time soon and thought I would apply for the METV next time I come but if I’m going to be interviewed/interrogated for just wanting to visit with a METV , I’m going to rethink my decision.
I think that Thailand’s tourism will continue to decline. There are other places to visit that are much more welcoming. So much for the land of smiles.
Malkolm MacTavish They need to change the wording of the METV because what I’ve done and what you’ve said , we have done it by the rules, however as we know rules here change daily and are interpreted differently by each official.
Gerry Durkin Thanks Gerry, that's good info. I'm from Scotland and done similar to you this last 2 years. I spend 3 months of winter in Thailand with 2 short breaks out, Saigon, S'pore etc. Was told to get visa for next year by I/O after 3rd/final entry on this trip. They are denitley enforcing the rules more.
Accommodation is just a formality, you can put in the address where you stay. It's compulsory to fill but not a strict requirement. I mean they don't even go and check at that address.
