Stop 🛑 This topic is boring, repetitive and hypothetical. It's complete 100% speculation and could possibly drag on for years because that's how Thailand operates. The topic has less relevance than talking about the weather. Admin please direct these questions to the search bar option in the group for previous endless and meaningless answers. Enough is enough. 🙏🇹🇭🙏

I would suggest a non immigrant O retirement visa. It's less complicated and stays with you as long as you extend every year. A marriage visa is only as good as the marriage, any problems with the marriage and you separate, you lose your visa too. And as someone already mentioned be very careful of a village marriage, make sure it's a legally binding civil marriage. Good luck 🙏

What you have to be very mindful of now is immigration at your point of entry, advises you to apply for a visa "next time". Do it, because you can be sure that now you are on their radar and next time you will be flagged and possibly have problems because you have been advised/warned.

Thai police are doing the same thing with farang and drivers license. If you intend to stay or are more than 3 months in Thailand then you should apply for a Thai license. It happened to me once in Pattaya and once in Jomtien. I paid the 1000 baht "fine" and went on my way.

Everyone skirting around obtaining the correct visa results in a couple of things. 1, is lost revenue in visa fees and 2, is an opportunity to vet the less desirable tourist who wants to be a nomad and border hop and evade meeting financial requirements.

It's a new era and Thailand doesn't want the free living farang wandering around with no accountability and just free to do whatever they want. Thailand is now the world capital of internet scams, crypto, land & property, fake investments, online casinos, human trafficking, online shopping scams and the list goes on. Nearly all criminal activity online is conducted by a farang on overstay, wanted in their home country or in Thailand on a tourist exempt.

So the little games people have been playing for years, well the rules have changed. Thailand is not going to be the nice guy anymore and let everyone in with just a wai and a smile. No more Sabai Sabai 🙏

They have the right to vet whoever they want. So if you have nothing to hide and you don't want the hassle, get the correct visa. Get an METV and stop making problems that shouldn't exist.

I make no apologies if you feel that applying for an METV takes away your sense of entitlement but that's how it's going to be moving forward.

3 or 4 visits/vacations over the next couple of years and you will have more than enough insight into Thailand. Don't rely too heavily or place too much importance on other peoples recommendations, Thailand is many different things to many different people. Find your own path and don't place too much emphasis on the well trodden path. Stick to the basics and then deviate, improvise and adapt, that's the beauty and charm of Thailand. Good luck.

EL JAMES SHOWE.....The fact that Thai government has instructed Thai immigration to tighten up their role as gatekeepers to the Kingdom, is precisely for people like you. There have been no new major laws passed regarding immigration as many farang claim, all that is happening is that immigration are actually having to do their job and adhere to their position as civil servants and carry out their duties to the letter of the law.

You and many other people who treat Thailand like a game with various cheat codes are now subjecting everyone who plays by the rules untold amounts of delay and frustration.

These types of Facebook/internet groups are constantly monitored by government interns looking for shady farangs searching for ways to circumvent the system. I hope they're waiting for you El James Showe on your next visit. Or better still, go to Scambodia, I'm sure you'll fit in well there. 🙏🇹🇭🙏

With a non-o 90 day visa with intent to retire. It's not Thai immigration that will give you a problem with an onward ticket, it's the airline. The Thai IMO that you meet on arrival will see that you have the CORRECT visa for your visit and stamp you in accordingly.

Airline protocol worldwide is if you're refused entry to a country it's their responsibility, and at their expanse to return you to where you departed from.

Airlines are not immigration officers and are not interested in your intent to apply for an extension to stay. It's not their responsibility to liaise with immigration. The airlines call the shots, it's wrong but that's the way it is. Have a safe and pleasant retirement 🙏
