When you have any such problem at a Bangkok Bank branch, email to Bangkok Bank corporate office giving them all the details. They will either call the branch and clarify the issue OR send you the info you need to get the paperwork.

And the stalls in the local market can use all the coins. Either you go and have a local go and the merchant will be more than happy to be paid in coins. Many customers use 100 baht bills and the merchants need the coins for change.

I have banked with them with no problem for only 20 years. I would recommend them adding use the branch closest to where you live or the the one you think would be most convenient.

And if you run into any problems due to their inexperience with expats, send an email to Bangkok Bank corporate in Bangkok explaining in detail what you are trying to do and the name and address of the branch that doesn't seem to understand what to do. I have done that several times over the years helping other expats open accounts, set up direct deposit from the U.S., etc.

I have not checked for a while but it used to be an O-A from the U.S. required continuous proof of medical insurance in Thailand while the O in country did not.

You might want to check the requirements for an O-A visa from the U.S. and an O visa obtain in country. Last I knew, there were different, with the O-A having more requirements.

With planned overseas travel which could conceivably, if not likely, require you to stay over past your passport's expiration date, you should renew your passport now.
