Has the situation changed at all with Bangkok Bank closing down accounts of DTV holders?
My debit card is about to expire, and I’ve been avoiding showing my passport at the bank. Will they likely shut down my account if I go in to renew it? Anyone have experience with this?
Has any of you recently applied (in-country) non-o extension using Bangkok Bank account? One of the agents told me last week that Immigration officer would not approve the application if your funds were with Bangkok Bank. Not sure whether true or not! Please share your experience. Thank you!
the law. It was suggested in my previous post on the Bank not wanting to allow me to open a Bank account even though I was on a type O visa had my lease agreement and everything.
Just a little query to the ones who came into Thailand on a tourist visa, opened a bank account, bought a condo but have had their bank accounts frozen. What’s your next step. Especially if you want to sell the condo 🤔
So, I'm not sure if this is general knowledge, as I've been told before.
I opened a Bangkok Bank account ten days ago. I then used Wise to transfer ten thousand pounds (400k baht). I also transferred some extra, realizing how quickly Wise worked and that you can be like a Thai and use the QR code with it to pay private accounts. The bank just rang me this afternoon to tell me that the 400k cannot be touched.
It shows I have the money in the bank, but my available balance is only twenty-six thousand. She says it is trapped for 6 months. Luckily, I had put it in there, and I was going to forget about it.
So, each year I have the four hundred k required, but I'm letting people know in case your situation is different.
After more than two months of being completely screwed around by “that bank” they now tell me they cannot unfreeze my account and need to give me my money back. I have just renewed my 12 month extension of stay (retirement) and have supplied them the relevant documents including a certificate of residency.
My question is how can I go about changing banks without “breaking” my retirement extension. I don’t have enough money just to deposit another 800k in another new bank while waiting to get my money from the original bank.
Just a quick one. The people who had their bank accounts frozen, did you all use an agent to open it or have any of you opened an account without the agent & still been frozen
