I moved my dog (only one and smaller so ymmv) to Chiang Mai with no plans beyond a pet-friendly hotel for the first week. It’s easier to get a long term rental boots on the ground. We arrived on a visa exemption, too. Went to Vietnam to apply for DTV after making sure Thailand was a good fit for us. No agency for housing or visas.
There are pet taxis you could do from the airport, or a van maybe.
Lol I’m currently in Da Nang waiting on my DTV. I applied last Mon, and Weds midday they asked for more docs. I got it in by Weds evening and am hoping to hear back soon. Then once I have mine I’ll apply for my kids’.
The things they asked for from me for the second round are:
*6 months bank statements and paystubs with deposits highlighted on the bank statements (I have a W2 job though so yours may differ);
*Every page of my passport, including blank pages, TIMESTAMPED, so I had to get timestamp software, and then compress the fuck out of it as you only get one 3MB upload per item. This was my proof of location. The first round I used my Vietnam visa, and then they asked for this.
*My resume and other evidence I can do the job I’ve already been doing for years, and they specifically requested work samples/ portfolio, which I didn’t provide because I’m an accountant, and I hope it’s okay.
*Business registration documents for my job—which seems more relevant to solepreneurs than to employees, so I hope it’ll be okay without this part too—and also a mission/ values statement, history and services offered, plus a link to the website.
I flew my dog from the US into Chiang Mai, Delta and Korean Air. My dog is small and rode in the cabin at my feet. NO quarantine. The requirements were essentially: microchip, vaccines, health certificate within 10 days of flight. And a fee. The airline fee was $200 usd and the import fee was I think 500 baht? Don’t quite remember. Not all airlines allow dogs though, so I’d check first. And I don’t know how the rules change for service dogs.
