Today I arrived at BKK airport, and something weird happened with the immigration officer.

So, I got my DTV from Manila a few days ago, and before traveling to Manila to apply, I stayed in Thailand for the allowed duration of 60 days visa free, traveled to PH for 17 days and came back.

The conversation with IO went like this:

I showed him the DTV and my passport, and he asked a couple questions:

- What do you do in Thailand? just travel and explore places.

- What do you do for work? I’m a software engineer, I build websites (apparently he didn’t understand what that is) but I work for foreign clients from the US.

- Sorry I can’t allow you in.

- Why?

- Because you work.

- But I have the DTV and I don’t work for Thai clients, I work for foreign clients.

- I know, but I can’t allow you in. How old are you?

- Where are you from?

- Morocco

- How old are you?

- I’m 25

- Where you staying, Bangkok?

- Yes, for a couple weeks and then Chiang Mai.

He stamped my passport with 180 days duration.

All this happened while we both were smiling at each other. So I don’t really know if he was serious and then changed his mind or if he was just kidding with me 🙂.

P.S. He didn’t even ask for the TDAC

P.S. I flew Business Class

I'm currently in Thailand on tourist visa and want come back next month to my country - Poland and apply for dtv digital nomad.

I will start my work remotely in next week:

Can this be a problem if I start working while being in Thailand or I am overthinking?or maybe better start work when I will be back in Poland but them I will have agreement only for one week...

Does someone has example of statement which my employee must fulfil ?

Can they ask about my bank statement from few months or only current month?

Thanks in advance

Could anybody with a DTV visa help advise, as I couldn't find the information online.

This may be specific to the UK, as I am unsure of the laws that other countries have.

The UK seems to have a law that you cannot work outside of the country for more than 180 days per year. My company is fine with me working anywhere in the world, but their concern is taxes, and that they will be required to pay foreign taxes, or that we will break some laws by doing this.

I currently (and will continue to) pay taxes in the UK as I am a resident there, but does anybody know if there are implications for me working abroad, or any steps myself and my company would need to take.

Thank you very much

I'm a freelancer working for UK clients. If I come to Thailand on a tourist visa, can I then apply for a DTV visa a little later... or will I run into trouble if weekly income has been coming into my bank while I've been on a tourist visa in Thailand?

And... How long do you think I will need to have the 500,000 baht in my bank account for? Can I pay it in the day before making my application? Or do I need three months of bank statements showing it already in the account and there the whole time?

(Finally, I'm from one European country and currently resident in another... Do I need to apply for the DTV from the city where I'm currently resident, or could I apply from a country near Thailand after I've come to Thailand?)

Thank you for your help with these questions.

Can foreigner work (as work from home) under Tourist Visa, not Non-B?

Due to Covid 19 caused foreigner unable to go to Thai Embassy oversea to get Non B and difficult to convert at immigration office because of lack of director signature on paper work.

Can we work from home until situation get better and able to apply for Non-B and then work permit?

If immigration officer finds out later even work for home. The reason of Covid 19 is still reasonable? And is there gonna be serious punishment?

Thank you

Hi all, if you have a work permit in the field of IT and working for a company in Bangkok. Are you allowed to work from a neighbouring province like Chon Buri? I know nobody is going to check you if you work from home, I just want to know what the law says... Thanks!
