The person posting that this is an image from the animal cargo bay of a commercial airline, is trying to mislead people. As you can see from the photo this is not from one of the large passenger airlines. You can see the area is small and see the curve of the walls. Please don't be fooled by misinformation.

Hi All.. I am planning to arrive in Thailand on a tourist visa and convert to retirement visa. I am bringing my cat (I have had numerous discussions with him and he does not want to stay in the UK anymore either). I was planning to arrive a few weeks before the cat but am now told I possibly need a long term visa to import the cat, contrary to previous advice. Thai authorities only seem to require a copy of passport but no visa for import licence? Does anyone have any experience on this as I have spoken to the pet relocation company and they do not have a diffinitive answer either. I would rather not stay in the UK for another 3 months, so any help appreciated…

Hello. This isn't quite about VISA advice but for people that have travelled into Thailand with their dog. I keep reading that Pit bull Terriers, Staffordshire terriers and even Dobermans are prohibited. The information is a bit all over the place as some claim that Thai Govt has a longer list of dangerous breeds than those mentioned. One even mentioned that there is a possibility of a special permit. My girl is a Cane Corso x Rottweiler. 🥺

Any advice?

Hello, your group was recommended to me. I will start by telling what I hope I can do, then you tell me if its possible and how.. I am 76, in good health. I even still work. My cat and I want to move to Thailand, either Bangkok or Pattaya area. I want to buy a condo as soon as I get bank transfer.. I will need to get a bank acct, to put 800,000 in it, plus cash for condo. I get my SS from USA. But I need to do this all in one trip. I have read you have to have a resident in USA when you apply for visa. I am selling my home here in Jan 2024. I want to come to Thailand right after. I was told an AO was good, but can I do all of the above without going back to USA? I live in Florida, so it is a very long flight I don't want to make t twice. Thank you

Hi, I have been lurking for a while, reading posts and getting a feel for the vibe. I’m a

66 year old Canadian woman planning on moving to Thailand (either Chiang Mai or Koh Lanta). Right now I live in BC, and have a lot of stuff to get rid of. I also have a Jack Russell who will be almost 10 when I make the move. I am looking to talk to a Canadian who has done this. Another woman around my age would be better, having a dog another plus! But I would be happy to talk with any Canadian who has done this. Very interested in the Canadian side of things, like how can I keep a Canadian bank account without an address etc. Please DM me if you feel like sharing. TIA

EDIT: I was in Thailand last spring for 2 months, mostly spending my time in Koh Lanta and Chiang Mai. My son lives in SE Asia and I want to be closer to him. I am looking for fellow Canadians who have made the move.

Hi there

So we are 2 ladies want to retire to Thailand.

Have 2 dogs, 2 cats

Where do we even start?

We know we need to open an account and deposit $$. Not a problem

Anything we should bring from Canada? I heard sheets cost alot and are only 1.

Electronics? Any other things people brought or regret not bringing?

Any advice would be great ,

When to apply and what visas to start with.

Can we or should we if we come visit, secure accomodations to live.

We plan to sell everything in Canada.

Hua hin is the area we will start with.

Negative comments not needed

Hello all

Taking our dog with us to Thailand (for our retirement)

We are looking at Lufthansa as they allow dogs in the cabin (in suitable pet carriers and subject to size and weight restrictions) alternatively the pet can go into the aircraft hold

The emotional side of me wants her to be with us, she is very timid and very close to me so will take comfort from hearing my voice and being able to see me

The other side of me is thinking, in the cabin, she will be cooped up in a carrier for 12 hours, similarly to us wearing a straitjacket and perhaps she would be more comfortable in the hold and some reports suggest being in the hold can be less stressful

Anyone have any opinions or experience on which option is the best and no. leaving her behind is absolutely not an option
