Can my kids enter Thailand on visa exemption while waiting for their DTV applications?

Hi all. I am wondering about entering Thailand while awaiting DTV, for KIDS. We are currently in Vietnam applying for DTVs. Mine was approved, then applied for the kids’…and then Tet happened and the embassy won’t be processing again until the 23rd. I would really like to get back to Chiang Mai sooner than the end of the month, when we have to move house. And we miss our dog.

I would be entering on my DTV. The kids would be entering visa exempt like before. Our history is two entries, October and January, approximately 90 days total, no exemptions. I don’t worry the kids will be let in on the visa exemption, but am curious if entry will invalidate their DTV applications? Or will they just not go into effect until next entry? I have heard plenty for grown ups not to enter until their visa is approved, but also that they are softer on some rules for kids.

Dependants are meaningless from this perspective, they are simply DTV applicants. And yes leaving the location served by the consulate you apply at can have consequences. Just today I saw on another group that someone had their application cancelled for that very thing

I believe I'm right in saying that you're meant to remain in the country you apply in until the DTV is approved and leaving said country beforehand would invalidate your application. Whether that also applies to dependents I don't know but I wouldn't risk it unless you're happy to have another trip overseas to sort it out.
