Did it today. Passport, phone company document verifying you own the local number, certificate of residence. Krungsti bank. Opened one at Kasikorn just needed Passport, thai license.

I believe so. I almost didn't get approved in time through NYC. I had to contact them multiple times and got it 2 days before I landed.

Exactly. Some embassies and counselates take longer to process it. NYC, but it is easier than it has ever been. Gone are the days of mailing passports for a sticker that took sometimes months to receive. Ive found using the DC embassy the fastest for approval and the NYC counselate the sslllooowwweesstttt.

 fly out stay a day or 2 and fly back, use visa. Or talk to visa run agency. Were you told a reason why the clown show in NYC took ignorantly long to process? I've had the same happen. NEVER use NYC consulate. DC is FAR MORE efficient.
