ORIGINAL POSTER
I applied for non o based on non thai family living in Thailand September 21. It has been "pending approval" since October 21. Ive reached out via email, their fb page, and unanswered calls to get any update since it's been well over 20 business days. I leave in a couple days. If they approve my visa after I'm already in country on visa exempt, will I still be able to leave and re enter activating and using my non o visa? Tyia.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the approval status of their NON-O visa application, which has been pending for over 20 business days. They are concerned about entering Thailand on a visa exemption and whether they can activate their NON-O visa if it gets approved during their stay. A comment suggests that they can exit and re-enter Thailand using the visa approval document to activate their NON-O visa.

You would indeed be able to exit/re-enter showing the print out of the PDF file that is the visa when you stamp back in and get the 90 day entry stamp
