What are the issues with Bangkok Bank's facial recognition for mobile banking?

Has anyone else had issues with Bagnkok Bank facial recognition insanity for mobile banking not allowing you to even register? 93 attempts with branches help and a call to tech support has been a waste of time. I only want pc access to my account and not mobile banking but seems you cannot do anything.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user expresses frustration over being unable to register for mobile banking with Bangkok Bank due to repeated failures with the facial recognition system, despite multiple attempts and assistance from the bank. Comments highlight similar experiences, suggesting various troubleshooting methods such as trying different devices or completing registration in person at the bank. Some users share successful strategies or alternative solutions, while others also report difficulties, particularly related to device compatibility and the complexity of the facial recognition system.

It's quite embarrassing when you are at the checkout!

it is very frustrating. Why cant they help you sort it out in your branch? I would suggest that it might be the device you are using. If you change your phone but keep the same number some banking apps will not work until you visit a branch and register the new phone.

Yes, they told me to blink. Blink rapidly like 10 times and it works.

I registered was pretty easy had to go in the bank with passport to do it first. It's a pain transferring though have to blink 3 times and smile takes ne a few attempts. Maybe I should do it sober 😂ðŸĪĢ😅

they said you can only register it on one device. I only have 1 device. Definitely not worth another $1,200+ for a new phone

Yeah I am not necessarily replace your phone - but if you try on another device (tablet) or other phone, you can rule-out your phone as being the problem. I am not familiar with your situation but I use the app on my phone without problem, I suspect 1000's if not millions of people use it so the app work, mostly.

You can go back an try your phone a dozen times but if nothing changes you really should expect different results.

I am just trying to be helpful

I appreciate it. I have tried to log on with my pc and it will not work either. I have no other phone or tablet. My Mrs has phone but it won't work on hers either as number doesn't match.

I have it on my android phone, it's only needed over 50kThb so I keep to below if I can, because it's really painful, what issue are you having is it installed amd registered on the phone ok? I seem to remember I had to have my picture taken at the bank. Give more details.

it's installed but I cannot even register as I cannot get past facial recognition. It constantly says facial covering detected then kicks me back to home page over and over no matter what I try. They took a pic at bank also

they did that 4 times while I was there. I get the runaround to delete, reinstall, restart phone, repeat then "ok, go home, try again then come back to branch idle not working". ðŸ˜ĄðŸ™„ðŸ™„ðŸ™„ðŸ™„ definitely the worst system I've ever experienced.

ok advise them you will change your bank. OR transfer under āļŋ50k each time. No one on facebook can help you. Its up to your bank

Bangkok bank has no problems

your missing the entire post. I have no access to my account whatsoever unless I walk into only the branch I opened it in and do it all manually which completely negates having an account to transfer my funds for retirement visa. They obviously have problems when they can't even get it to work or login from their iPad. Thanks for the input though. 🙏

ok my wife had a problem with scb. So she left them for Bangkok bank.

Their ipad not yours? Usually banks allow apps only on 1 devicw but you can login via a webpage

A bit different than cant tranfer āļŋ50k.

I recommend leaving your bank.

their iPad. They tried to manually login to my account to show me I could have access to it via my pc/webpage which is all I wanted and not mobile banking app. They failed. They can only login via the bank systems computers with my password etc but no other devices. None of it makes any sense to me. I'm definitely going elsewhere after this soon to be week long fiasco. Likely lose the wasted money on their "mandatory insurance" too.

I used a tripod to put the phone on, because it didn't work well in my hand, it does the trick, but it's fiddly to say the least.

what happens? Does it remain a red image? If so your picture in the system is not being matched to your face, maybe best to go too your local branch and see if they can start again, if you have problems communicating phone the BBank helpline who have good English and let them explain the problem.

another 2 hours sitting here at local branch and zero results. Turns green and i do the motions but it instantly cuts me off and boots back to beginning to reenter same info again. Talked to 5 people at helpline today with same failed results.

don't give up, have you set up "facial recognition" on your phone, as a way of logging on?

the only thing other things you could try. Checking the app is up to date, go to the play store enter bangkok bank and it will either say "open or update"

Delete the app and reinstall it, this is last worse case option.

If you have a partner install the bangkok bank on thier phone and see if it works

yep. I've done all that 20+ times. Branch said 5 people had same issue yesterday but customers got pissed and left. It's a galaxy s22. I cannot use any other phone than mine. Once it's registered on a device if ever, then that's what I'm stuck with unless I create more issues having to go through more paperwork and bs to change number, etc. Blows my mind.

I've never used facial recognition in my life until now. I prefer passwords. Obviously much better especially considering this failed system.

Same here, it kept saying remove facial covering. After about 20 attempts I shaved off my beard and guess what, it accepted it. 5555

you mention PC . . . do you have the mobile banking ap on your phone or tablet?

Because my understanding is that Bangkok Bank now only supports ap usage/installation on a single device.
