During the period when it can remain at 400k or more, move 400k to the Fixed Deposit.

Once that is safely moved, moved the other 400k.

Obviously have a little more than exactly 800k before moving any, and make sure there won't be any bank fees to take you below the required amounts.

Use an agent who tells you they can get it approved.

And try to negotiate in advance a (at least partial) refund if they fail.

But mainly - Use an effective agent.

There are many who can take care of it.

I've never before read that the monthly income method for a Retirement Extension can only be done after your first year.

When flying internationally one can have Airport Immigration xfer the stamp.

Some have reported success filing it online.

Are you entering with a Visa?

If not, the AIRLINE - NOT Immigration - will usually demand to see an onward ticket.

No.

Airlines ask for it if one DOES NOT have a Visa,

because they are obligated to fly the passenger back to point of Departure if entrance is refused.
