Why is the fee 2000 baht to exit Thailand at Wang Prachan border post and return the same day?

Exited today via Don Mueang airport and was pulled aside at immigration who asked to see a receipt for my visa extension (which I didn’t have) I’d entered on a 60 Tourist Visa and extended once at Koh Samui.

Anyone experienced this before and should I have kept the receipt? Now worried about coming back into Thailand in approximately 2-3 months?

Might help someone who also messed up their paperwork this year: I exited by road on 15th to Savvanakhet. Applied for visa day 1. Cost 2000thb. Submitted app form, kor ror 2, copy of wife's name change cert, copy of her I'd and house book, copy of all of my passport pages and 2 passport photos. You will need to go to visa on arrival at Laos with another photo and form, then pay 50 baht for the bus accross (don't exit thailand before buying a ticket or face some stern words from the IO who has to go get it for you, oops). There is a good hotel called machiato coffee which is 30 seconds from the office and has everything you need, except the WiFi is a bit slow. Thanks to the advisers on this page that helped the trip run so smooth.

Hi, thanks in advance!

Flying into BKK, then flying out just short of 3 months later.

Planning on spending about 7-8 weeks in Thailand, then heading to Cambodia for a month and then heading back to BKK before leaving for UK again. (So will be in Thailand / BKK for a few days before the flight home)

Assume here the best plan here is to apply online for 60 day single entry tourist visa before I leave. I'll 'use this up' and then leave for Cambodia, and then when I come back into Thailand I assume I'll be on the standard 'no visa' standard 30 day tourist visa if I'm correct?

AIRLINE EXIT CHECK:

So the airline will check/require an 'departing' flight - to which the 3 month return will be valid (I assume as they don't care about visa this end) Airline don't know, nor care surely. They just want proof of exit at any time?

VISA:

The application for 60 day Thail visa WILL require exit date and proof, so I assume best bet here is to buy a BKK->Cambodia bus and use that as the proof I need?

Thanks in advance for this, much appreciated.

Hi everyone. I have recently received a METV and need some advice on my proposed plan. I couldn't get into the country any earlier so have lost a couple of weeks. As such I was wondering if I leave the country before the METV expires, am I still allowed to stay for 60 days?

Example itinerary as follows:

August 7: Visa approved (expires 6 Feb 2024)

August 27: Arrive in Thailand. Get a 60-day stamp. (60 days expires 25 Oct)

October 24: [1st Extention] Extend for another 30 days. (30 days expires 22 Nov)

November 21: [1st Visa Run] Leave Thailand

November 24: Return to get a new 60-day stamp. (new stamp expires 22 Jan)

January 20: [2nd Visa Run] Leave Thailand

January 25: Return to get a new 60-day stamp. (new stamp expires 24 Mar)

Thanks in advance.

Hi! Hoping to ask some advice about exiting Thailand and re-entering on a Tourist Visa (in order to apply for Non-Immigrant O Spouse Visa), without needing to show a return ticket exiting Thailand.

My partner is currently on the Thailand Elite visa expiring this year and Chaengwatthana immigration told him that he will need to exit Thailand and re-enter on a Tourist Visa (visa exempt) in order to apply for the Non-Immigrant O Spouse Visa. My question is that when he flies out Thailand and re-enters on a Tourist Visa, does he need to show a return flight ticket exiting Thailand? (So in total booking 3 trips out-in-out) or is there any other way he can change his visa to a Tourist Visa without needing to show a return flight ticket exiting Thailand?

Hope that makes sense and thank you for any advice!

Hi All, some advice welcome

I recently got a new passport (in Thailand) and my final visa extension (in my previous, now cancelled passport) is coming to an end. I will be leaving Thailand and not extending as the visa is expiring.

Do I still need to go to immigration and transfer over the stamp to the new passport before leaving at the airport? Or will i just be able to carry my old passport with the information and have my exit stamps on the new one

Thanks!

I’m on a 45 day visa exemption. My British passport has almost ran out of pages and I’m applying for a new one at VFS. They’ll give me back my old passport, albeit with corner cut off, whilst British passport office prints out a new, blue passport for me.

Do I have to carry both passports through immigration at the airport when I leave, or, do I need to get the thai visa moved to my new passport?

Will I be allowed to leave if I overstay? So based on the new COVID-19 extensions I will not be able to extend because I've had a Non-Imm visa at one point (I initially entered visa exempt). I had originally planned to leave in January, but my flight to Hong Kong was cancelled (but I wouldn't have been able to reenter anyways).

My current extension expires March 1st and I am in the process of obtaining a visa to enter Taiwan, but flights must be scheduled between March 17th - March 20th. I've seen posts saying that I will still be asked to leave in 7 days regardless (no exceptions?), so will applying for an extension even matter? I do not mind paying the overstay fine, but I'm worried I will be prevented from leaving and miss my flight.
